Kia Clavis: A Highly Anticipated Addition to the Small CUV Segment

Small CUVs are gaining popularity globally, especially in India. Kia is set to launch the Clavis, a new compact CUV, to cater to this growing market. The Clavis is expected to be a formidable rival to the Hyundai Exter.

Rumors started circulating when Kia registered the name “Clavis” in India back in December. While the registration didn’t specify the body style, Indian media speculated it would be a CUV.

Based on spy shots and recent leaks, Rushlane, an Indian automotive magazine, has created a design prediction for the Clavis.

The small CUV is expected to feature Kia’s signature “tiger nose” grille, combined with vertical LED headlights. The daytime running lights are also vertically oriented and double as turn signals.

The Clavis is equipped with radar for advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS). The side mirrors are angular and house cameras for a 360-degree view and blind-spot monitoring. The alloy wheels feature a modern 3-spoke design. The Clavis’ side profile bears a resemblance to the Hyundai Casper, although the Kia model is expected to be slightly longer.

Leaked interior shots reveal a host of premium features, including a dual 10.2-inch screen setup, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front and rear leather seats, and rear AC vents.

The Kia Clavis is anticipated to be one of the most feature-rich small CUVs in India. While the engine options are yet to be confirmed, the Clavis could be offered with a 1.2L gasoline engine producing 82 hp, a 1.0L turbocharged gasoline engine generating 118 hp, or a 1.5L diesel engine with 114 hp. The CUV is expected to launch by the end of this year or early next year.
