In the early hours of the morning, BYD officially entered the Vietnamese market with the launch of three new vehicle models. However, surprisingly, their absence was notable for the “cash cow” of their range, the compact SUV Seagull.
Fast forward to August 1st, 2024, and the pure electric hatchback BYD Seagull 2025 has just been launched in China, with three variants priced from 69,800 to 85,800 RMB (approximately 9,700 to 12,000 USD or 227 to 279 million VND).
As an annual upgrade, the BYD Seagull 2025 features subtle design changes and new configurations, such as electrically adjustable front seats. The new model is available in four exterior colors: black, green, white, and peach, as well as two interior color options: green and Dune Pink.
Built on the BYD e-Platform 3.0, the Seagull 2025 maintains the same dimensions as its predecessor, with a length of 3,780 mm, a width of 1,715 mm, and a height of 1,540 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,500 mm. The most notable change in the exterior design is the replacement of the “BUILD YOUR DREAMS” logo with “BYD” at the rear, while the front remains unchanged.
The Vitality variant features 15-inch wheels (left), while the Freedom and Flying editions are equipped with new 16-inch aluminum alloy wheels (right).
The interior design remains consistent with the previous version, featuring a 7-inch floating instrument panel and a 10.1-inch central control screen integrated with the BYD DiLink platform.
The Freedom and Flying editions offer added conveniences such as a wireless phone charger, front seat heating, and six-way electric adjustment for the driver’s seat.
Standard configurations across all variants include OTA updates, four speakers, Bluetooth connectivity, voice interaction, in-car WiFi, 4G networking, and keyless entry.
Powering the Seagull 2025 is a permanent magnet synchronous motor with a maximum output of 55 kW (74 hp) and 135 Nm of torque, paired with BYD’s Blade battery. The Vitality and Freedom variants are equipped with a 30.08 kWh battery, offering a CLTC range of 305 km.
The Flying edition features a larger 38.88 kWh battery, providing a CLTC range of 405 km. All variants can accelerate from 0 to 50 km/h in 4.9 seconds. With DC fast charging, it takes just 30 minutes to charge the battery from 30% to 80% at room temperature.
