According to information from the Vehicle Registration Office, more than 700 Isuzu automobiles in the Vietnamese market need to be recalled to replace the body electrical control module. This will address an issue with the automatic lighting function on these vehicles.

Specifically, a total of 706 Isuzu D-Max and Isuzu mu-X vehicles manufactured between 2021 and 2023 are subject to this recall. Of these, 313 have been delivered to customers, 99 are in dealer inventory, and 294 are still in stock at Isuzu Vietnam Company.

The recall notice states that when the driver operates the vehicle in automatic lighting mode in low-light conditions (such as at night or when passing through a tunnel) at speeds below 10 km/h or while stationary, the body electrical control module may not accurately control the lighting function.

In this situation, the emergency mode of the affected Isuzu D-Max and Isuzu mu-X vehicles will be activated, but only the front lights will turn on, while the rear lights, license plate lights, and demi lights remain off. As a result, other vehicles behind may have difficulty identifying the stationary vehicle, increasing the risk of a collision.

Due to this safety risk, owners of the affected Isuzu D-Max and Isuzu mu-X vehicles are advised to take their cars to authorized Isuzu Vietnam dealers for inspection and repair according to specified standards.

In the Vietnamese market, the Isuzu passenger car group has not achieved very encouraging sales results.

In the first four months of this year, the Isuzu D-Max pickup truck was the best-selling model in the Isuzu passenger car group, with 106 units sold. Meanwhile, the Isuzu mu-X 7-seater SUV achieved sales of 55 units, equivalent to an average monthly sales volume of nearly 14 units.

The sales performance of the Isuzu D-Max and Isuzu mu-X pales in comparison to the sales of 2,335 units achieved by the Isuzu truck group in the Vietnamese market during the same period.

Both the Isuzu D-Max and Isuzu mu-X are distributed in Vietnam as completely built-up imports from Thailand. While not a favorite choice among Vietnamese consumers, the Isuzu D-Max has demonstrated considerable appeal in the Thai market. Last year, the Isuzu D-Max, along with the Toyota Hilux, became the best-selling models in the entire Thai market.
