It’s been almost two weeks since VinFast delivered the VF3 electric SUV to customers, and according to some owners who received their vehicles, there’s a growing interest in customizing these compact electric SUVs.

A quick browse through VinFast VF3 owner groups reveals that many are opting for decal wraps and custom paint jobs, with prices ranging from just a few hundred thousand VND to 16 million VND, depending on the complexity of the design.

The trend of customizing the VF3 is gaining traction, with some owners going as far as installing a new front grille with an off-road-style bumper and skid plate. Others are opting for a roof rack with a ladder and a tent, transforming their VF3 into a mini adventure-mobile.

For those who prefer a simpler approach, there’s a wide range of aftermarket wheels to choose from. You can go for a sleek look with single-spoke chrome rims, add a touch of style with multi-spoke painted alloys, or even mix and match with differently colored rims. If luxury is your thing, you can opt for multi-spoke rims reminiscent of those found on the Mercedes-Maybach S680. Prices for these wheel upgrades range from 15 million to 60 million VND, depending on the brand.

Of course, whether your VF3 costs a few hundred million VND or over a billion, upgrading the lighting is a must, especially when navigating the winding roads in the northern regions of Vietnam. There are various options available, ranging from affordable to premium, with prices starting at 3 million and going up to 30 million VND.

If you’re concerned about modifying the VF3’s headlights and potentially failing vehicle inspections, consider installing underbody glow lights instead. For just 5 million VND, you can get a set of LED lights with three color options: white, warm white, and deep yellow. This modification is easily reversible for inspections, as you can simply cover the lights with black tape or use other clever tricks.

Moving inside the VF3, there are several upgrades you can consider, such as adding a rearview camera, installing an Android head unit, upgrading the sound system, and even opting for a full reupholstery with leather seats. If you’re looking to enhance the interior ambiance, consider installing a starry LED roof light similar to what you’d find in a Rolls-Royce. Don’t forget to add heat-insulating window tint to keep the cabin cool during the hot summer months.

If you feel that the VF3’s interior is a bit cramped, you might consider installing a sunroof to open up the cabin. However, keep in mind that this modification will likely cause issues during vehicle inspections.

This type of customization is aimed at enthusiasts who are willing to take the risk, as the VF3 is exempt from inspections for the first three years of ownership. After that, returning the vehicle to its original state for inspections could prove challenging.

Powered by an electric motor mounted on the rear axle, the VF3 delivers a maximum output of 43 horsepower and 110 Nm of torque, enabling it to sprint from 0 to 50 km/h in just 5.3 seconds. Its lithium-ion battery has a usable capacity of 18.64 kWh, offering a range of 210 km on a single charge according to the NEDC standard. Charging the battery from 10% to 70% takes 5 hours with a slow charger and just 36 minutes with a fast charger.
