In Vietnam, Japanese cars have always been favored for their fuel efficiency and proven durability. Toyota, in particular, has established itself as a prominent brand, deeply rooted in the minds of automotive consumers.

However, in recent years, Toyota has faced intense competition from rival automakers. This has prompted the Japanese automaker to innovate its product line and adopt more flexible sales strategies.

A Fresh Lineup with a Modern Appeal and Enhanced Features

Since 2022, Toyota has transformed itself into a “Mobility Solutions Company,” placing customers at the heart of its operations with the commitment, “Move your World.”

The company’s vehicle lineup has also undergone a design revolution, shedding its aging aesthetics for a more modern and youthful look. Additionally, Toyota has focused on enhancing the features and equipment offered in its vehicles, providing Vietnamese consumers with products that deliver superior value.

A notable example is the Toyota Vios, the company’s flagship model in Vietnam, which received a mid-life upgrade in May 2023. In addition to a refreshed and modern design, the Vios now includes forward-collision warning and lane-departure warning systems, making it one of the most technologically advanced vehicles in the B-segment sedan category.

Toyota Vios sales surged by 227% in July, with 1,745 units sold compared to the previous month.

In the highly competitive small MPV segment, Toyota introduced two compelling options for Vietnamese consumers: the Toyota Veloz Cross and Avanza Premio, both launched in March 2022. The designs of these vehicles are eye-catching, featuring bold angular lines. The Avanza Premio targets customers seeking a practical vehicle for ride-sharing services or young families on a budget, while the Veloz Cross appeals to tech-savvy individuals with its advanced safety and convenience features.

The Toyota Veloz Cross, in particular, comes equipped with the Toyota Safety Sense suite of advanced driver-assistance systems, positioning it competitively within its segment.

Toyota Veloz Cross sales witnessed a remarkable 114% growth in July, with 766 units sold.

Another rising star in Toyota’s lineup is the Yaris Cross, introduced to the Vietnamese market in September 2023. The Yaris Cross not only boasts a stylish design but is also the only B-segment SUV to offer a hybrid variant, making cutting-edge hybrid technology accessible to a wider range of consumers at a competitive price point of VND 765 million.

The gasoline-powered version of the Yaris Cross is also competitively priced at VND 650 million, undercutting rivals while offering a comparable level of equipment, including the Toyota Safety Sense package.

The Toyota Yaris Cross continued its strong performance in July, with sales reaching 1,242 units, reflecting a remarkable 153% growth compared to the previous month.

These new models have quickly established themselves in the market, reinforcing Toyota’s position and showcasing the company’s evolution: a modern, feature-rich, and value-oriented brand that remains true to its core principles of durability, fuel efficiency, and, most importantly, competitive pricing.

Attractive Promotions that Resonate with Customers’ Needs

In addition to its compelling product lineup, Toyota’s promotional strategies have played a pivotal role in maintaining its competitive edge, especially amidst economic downturns and their impact on the automotive market.

Throughout August, Toyota Vietnam is offering a 50% discount on registration fees for customers who complete the full payment for the Vios, Veloz Cross, Avanza Premio, and Yaris Cross models. This translates to savings ranging from VND 23 million to VND 38 million, depending on the model and variant, as detailed below:

For customers opting for financing, Toyota Vietnam’s financial services arm is offering an attractive 4.99% interest rate for the first six months across all Toyota models.
