The Toyota Yaris – a sleek and stylish hatchback no longer featured on the homepage of Toyota Vietnam. |
Toyota Vietnam’s website no longer showcases the Yaris in its hatchback section, indicating that the model may have been discontinued in the local market. According to reports from Tri Thức – Znews, Toyota dealerships in Ho Chi Minh City have confirmed that they stopped distributing the Yaris at the beginning of the year. The sales staff shared that recent sales mostly came from pre-existing orders, with no new cars available for display at the dealerships.
This decision by Toyota may have been long-planned, as they introduced the Yaris Cross, a sibling model of the Yaris, back in September 2023. With the Yaris seemingly phased out, the hatchback segment in Vietnam is left with only a few options, including the Suzuki Swift and Mazda2. BYD has also introduced the Dolphin, a small hatchback, but with a predicted price of over 500 million VND, it may not be the savior of this struggling segment.
