Last night, on the 23rd of August 2024, social media was abuzz once again with images of supercars participating in the Gumball 3000 2024. This time, the cars were transported by tow trucks to a gathering point, according to some sources, these images were taken as the convoy made its way through Pham Van Dong Street, heading from Tan Son Nhat International Airport towards District 1.
The newly shared images on social media platforms revealed that the supercars participating in the Gumball 3000 journey were being transported to a gathering point, including the Ferrari 812 Competizione, a modified Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow pickup truck, and a Rolls-Royce Dawn.
Thus, the excitement surrounding the world’s largest supercar event, Gumball 3000 2024, has begun to intensify. Car enthusiasts are now eagerly awaiting the next batch of vehicles to be shipped to Vietnam, with the potential for the appearance of supercars such as the Koenigsegg Regera, Porsche Carrera GT, and Bugatti Chiron…
The Gumball 3000 2024 supercar journey marks the 25th anniversary of the event, with a fleet of 120 cars participating and traversing through five Southeast Asian countries: Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore.
Approximately ten cars have already been transported to Vietnam by air, including the Mercedes-Benz E-Class Brabus 800, Porsche 911 GT2 RS, Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow pickup truck, Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT, Rolls-Royce Dawn, limited-edition Ferrari 812 Competizione, Audi RS5, Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series, Ferrari 296 GTB, and Lamborghini Urus.
Among the three newly revealed cars spotted on the streets of Ho Chi Minh City, the Ferrari 812 Competizione is a limited edition with only 999 units worldwide. This has garnered significant attention as Vietnamese tycoons have not owned a limited-edition Ferrari before, making it a remarkable addition to Vietnam’s automotive landscape, even if it’s just for the Gumball 3000 event and will eventually move on to another country.
The newly spotted Ferrari 812 Competizione in Vietnam boasts a matte blue exterior with yellow stripes running from the hood, across the roof, and onto the rear spoiler. Compared to the standard model, the most noticeable difference in the Ferrari 812 Competizione is the seamless hood design, elevated rear spoiler, and several other distinctive features.
The limited-edition Ferrari 812 Competizione comes with a price tag of $601,570, which is approximately 14 billion VND, rivaling the price of the hybrid Ferrari SF90. However, if any Vietnamese tycoon is fortunate enough to purchase this supercar, the selling price will be significantly higher due to the large-displacement engine, resulting in a cost far exceeding the SF90’s on-road price of over 50 billion VND.
Specifically, the Ferrari 812 Competizione is powered by a 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine that delivers 818 horsepower and 692 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, enabling the supercar to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.85 seconds and reach a top speed of 340 km/h.
