The Raging Bulls: A Stampede of Lamborghini Huracan Supercars at Gumball 3000, with an Unexpected Off-Roader in the Mix.

The Gumball 3000 rally witnessed an extraordinary gathering of not one, but nine Lamborghini Huracan supercars. Among these nine mighty machines, three were the formidable Huracan Sterrato variants, designed to conquer any terrain. Thus far, no Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato has ventured onto Vietnamese soil, leaving a tantalizing prospect for enthusiasts in the country.

Gumball 3000 is an ultra-exclusive supercar rally that captures the imagination of car enthusiasts worldwide. In 2024, marking the 25th anniversary of this prestigious event, the rally will be held in the ASEAN region, with Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore as the chosen destinations for this 3,000-mile (4,800 km) journey.

The list of participating supercars in Gumball 3000 is ever-evolving, and in a recent update, the highly-anticipated Koenigsegg Jesko megacar will not be joining the rally in Vietnam. Instead, a limited-edition Lamborghini Aventador SVJ will take its place. Coincidentally, Lamborghini boasts the largest contingent of cars in the event, with the Huracan being the most prevalent model.

Among the participants, nine Lamborghini Huracan supercars are set to join the Gumball 3000 rally, including three Sterrato variants designed for off-road adventures. Car enthusiasts are particularly excited about the Huracan Sterrato as none have been spotted in Vietnam yet. With four Porsche 911 Dakars already in the country, expectations are high for the Huracan Sterrato, the German car’s rival.

The Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato stands out from its siblings as it’s built to conquer all terrains, including mountainous roads. The name “Sterrato” in Italian translates to “dirt,” and the car’s design reflects this off-road focus. The ground clearance has been increased by 47 mm, while the approach and departure angles have been improved by 1% and 6.5%, respectively. Additionally, the front and rear tracks have been widened by 30 mm and 34 mm, respectively, to enhance stability and balance during off-road excursions.

At the heart of the Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato is a naturally aspirated 5.2L V10 engine that delivers 610 horsepower and 560 Nm of torque. This potent powertrain is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and a permanent all-wheel-drive system. The Sterrato features a unique Rally driving mode designed for low-grip, slippery surfaces, along with Strada (street) and Sport modes. It can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 260 km/h.

Among the Lamborghini contingent, four examples are the Huracan Super Trofeo Omologata (STO), a track-focused variant with only one unit currently in Vietnam. The STO boasts a unique design with a front hood that opens forward, race-inspired suspension, and an interior reminiscent of racing cars.

Under the hood, the Lamborghini Huracan STO shares the same 5.2-liter V10 engine as the EVO, generating 640 horsepower and 565 Nm of torque. However, it benefits from refined racing technologies, including an improved suspension, exhaust system, and other performance enhancements. The Huracan STO can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3 seconds and reach a top speed of 310 km/h.
