The Ferrari supercars are set to make an appearance at the Gumball 3000 2024 exhibition, taking place over two days on September 14 and 15, 2024, in Vietnam. The event has garnered significant attention from local media, and the lineup is slowly being revealed, with the latest addition being the Ferrari F8 Spider.

The inclusion of the Ferrari F8 Spider adds excitement to the “Qua” Vu’s stable of Prancing Horses that will be on display at Gumball 3000, showcasing a diverse range of models from the 360, 458, and 488 families, including their convertible variants.

This particular Ferrari F8 Spider was acquired by Dang Le Nguyen Vu in May 2022. Despite being two years old, the businessman has never driven it on the roads. Instead, it has only been publicly displayed once at a supercar exhibition in Buon Ma Thuot, alongside eight other Ferraris.

A notable feature of this convertible supercar is its hardtop, which has been wrapped in matte black. Additionally, the car now sports a new livery specifically designed for its participation in the upcoming Gumball 3000 supercar event this week.

The Ferrari F8 Spider impresses with its muscular design, mirroring the aesthetics of its coupe counterpart, the Ferrari F8 Tributo. The key distinction between the two lies in the retractable hardtop of the F8 Spider, which can be raised or lowered in approximately 14 seconds. Another unique feature is the small glass partition between the two seats.

The retractable hardtop of the Ferrari F8 Spider can be operated while the car is in motion, although Ferrari recommends doing so only at speeds below 50 km/h and in calm weather conditions to ensure optimal functionality.

The addition of the hardtop makes the F8 Spider about 70 kg heavier than its fixed-roof sibling, the Ferrari F8 Tributo. However, it is still 20 kg lighter than its predecessor, the Ferrari 488 Spider.

Beyond its weight advantage, the Ferrari F8 Spider boasts superior aerodynamics, achieving a 10% improvement over the 488 Spider. The S-Duct air intake, inspired by Formula 1 cars, is a defining feature shared with the Ferrari 488 Pista. However, Ferrari has redesigned the S-Duct on the F8 Spider to increase downforce by 15% compared to the 488 Spider.

Under the hood, the “Qua” Vu’s Ferrari F8 Spider is equipped with a 3.9-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine, delivering an impressive 711 horsepower and 770 Nm of torque. These figures match those of the Ferrari 488 Pista Spider.

This immense power is transmitted to the rear wheels through a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, propelling the F8 Spider from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds and from 0 to 200 km/h in 8.4 seconds. With the roof open, the supercar can reach a top speed of 325 km/h, while closing the roof enables it to attain an even higher top speed of 340 km/h.
