As the year draws to a close, the selling prices of scooters in the market are getting closer to the listed prices.

A few million dong difference from the listed price

According to Zing‘s observation, the actual selling price of the Honda Vision has cooled down significantly compared to the middle of the year.

Specifically, the standard version of the Honda Vision is now sold at dealerships in Ho Chi Minh City for only 31.8 million dong. Compared to the listed price of 30.7 million dong, the selling price of this model at dealerships is almost identical to the price proposed by Honda Vietnam.

Meanwhile, the Special version of the Vision is sold at dealerships for 35.6 million dong, while the Premium version is offered at 34.2 million dong.

At the end of July, the on-the-road price of the Honda Vision “Personality” version reached nearly 60 million dong. However, as the supply situation improved and the motorcycle market cooled down, the market price of the Honda Vision “Personality” version has now dropped to 36.5 million dong.

For some unique colors that are pre-arranged by the dealership or customized according to the customer’s request, the dealership will charge an additional 2 to 3 million dong to the selling price, depending on the colors on the scooter.

Honda Vietnam’s sales report shows that the Honda Vision remains the best-selling scooter with 68,608 units sold, accounting for 22.8% of the company’s total motorcycle sales in October.

Currently, Honda dealerships have not yet introduced the Sports version of the Honda Vision to customers. According to Honda Vietnam’s announcement, this version will be officially launched in the market from December 13 nationwide.

Speaking to Zing, a Honda dealership employee revealed that abundant supply has helped bring the scooter prices closer to the listed prices.

“There are also many customers coming to buy the Honda Vision, but there is no longer a shortage of supply. The waiting time for customers to receive their scooters is mainly due to the process of obtaining the license plate,” the employee said.

However, another Honda scooter, the SH Mode, remains at a high price, with a difference of 8 to 9.5 million dong compared to the listed price.

Specifically, the Standard version of the SH Mode is sold at dealerships for 64.6 million dong, while the Special version has a market price of approximately 72.3 million dong.

As for the Yamaha Janus, the Standard version of this scooter is currently priced at 31.3 million dong at dealerships. The remaining two versions, including the Special and Limited editions, are sold at dealerships for the same price of 35.1 million dong.

Thus, after a period of “feverish” price increases along with the Honda Vision, the popular Yamaha scooter has also cooled down, with the price difference now fluctuating around 2.6-2.8 million dong. Notably, the price of the Yamaha Janus at dealerships at the beginning of July had surged to about 8.4 million dong.

Similarly, the Yamaha Grande scooter now has a market price that is only about 2 million dong higher than the listed price.

Specifically, the different versions of the Grande are currently sold at dealerships, ranging from 47.4 million dong to 52.3 million dong, depending on the version. Notably, some special colors with limited quantities are also sold at dealerships for 1 million dong higher than the standard colors.

Domestic motorcycle assembly increases significantly

The price movements of the above-mentioned scooter models are generally in line with the current situation, as the number of domestically assembled motorcycles has been continuously increasing in the second half of 2022.

According to the General Statistics Office, in October, the number of domestically assembled and manufactured motorcycles reached 319,200 units, bringing the total number of domestic motorcycles in the first ten months of the year to over 2.6 million units.

The agency also estimates that the number of domestically manufactured and assembled motorcycles in November will reach 360,900 units. If this growth momentum is maintained, it is very likely that by the end of 2022, the number of domestic motorcycles in Vietnam will exceed or at least reach the 3 million unit mark.

According to the latest data released by the Vietnam Motorcycle Manufacturers Association (VAMM), the total sales of its member companies in the third quarter reached 762,152 units, an increase of 16.3% compared to the previous quarter.

Cumulative from the beginning of the year, VAMM members have sold a total of more than 2.17 million motorcycles. If we consider only the first three quarters, the average number of motorcycles consumed by Vietnamese people per day has almost reached the 8,000 unit mark.

In its report, VAMM noted that the aforementioned cumulative sales figure only records the total sales of the five VAMM members in the Vietnamese market and does not include export figures.

The five VAMM members include Honda Vietnam, Piaggio Vietnam, Vietnam Suzuki, SYM Vietnam, and Yamaha Motor Vietnam.
