C-segment SUV sales table for August 2024 (unit: cars)

Mazda CX-5: 1,070 units

Although August 2024 overlapped with the seventh lunar month, Vietnamese customers continued to favor the Mazda CX-5. As a result, the model’s sales grew by 2.4% to reach 1,070 units. With this performance, the Mazda CX-5 topped the C-segment SUV market and entered the top 10 best-selling automobiles in Vietnam.

Mazda CX-5

The Mazda CX-5 is currently one of the most affordable C-segment SUVs in Vietnam, with prices ranging from 749 to 959 million VND for seven variants. This is also one of the model’s biggest advantages, consistently leading the segment in sales.

In addition to its reasonable price, the Mazda CX-5 also benefits from a 50% registration fee support policy from the government as it is domestically produced and assembled. Moreover, the model attracts customers with its eye-catching design, convenient features, and adequate safety equipment.

The Mazda CX-5 currently offers two gasoline engine options with displacements of 2.0L and 2.5L, delivering 154 horsepower/200 Nm and 188 horsepower/252 Nm, respectively. The engines are paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.

Ford Territory: 576 units

In contrast to its rival, the Mazda CX-5, the Ford Territory witnessed a significant decline in sales last August. The model sold 576 units, a 21.8% decrease. However, it maintained its second position in the C-segment SUV market.

This September, the Ford Territory is offered with a 100% registration fee incentive, including support from the brand and the government. The value of this incentive for the C-segment SUV ranges from 80 to 92 million VND. This promotion is expected to boost the model’s sales performance.

Not long ago, Ford introduced the new Sport variant of the Territory, priced at 909 million VND. Thus, the C-segment SUV now has four variants, with prices ranging from 799 to 929 million VND.

Ford Territory Sport

In addition to its affordable price, the Ford Territory is also well-liked in Vietnam for its substantial and modern exterior, spacious interior, and excellent features. Local assembly also ensures a stable supply for this model.

Regardless of the variant, the Ford Territory is equipped with a 1.5L EcoBoost 4-cylinder gasoline engine that produces a maximum of 160 horsepower and 248 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a 7-speed automatic transmission.

Hyundai Tucson: 425 units

August 2024 was not a favorable month for the Hyundai Tucson, as its sales decreased by 19% to 425 units. Nevertheless, the South Korean model climbed to third place in the C-segment SUV market, surpassing the Honda CR-V.

Hyundai Tucson

Similar to many competitors in the segment, the Hyundai Tucson also benefits from a 50% registration fee reduction as it is domestically produced and assembled. As a result, customers can save between 38 and 55 million VND, depending on the variant and registration province or city.

The Hyundai Tucson stands out with its reasonable price, distinctive design, spacious interior thanks to its large wheelbase, and diverse engine options. Under the hood, the model offers three engine choices: the Smartstream 4-cylinder 2.0L gasoline engine, the Smartstream 4-cylinder 2.0L diesel engine, and the turbocharged 4-cylinder 1.6L gasoline engine. These engines deliver maximum power ranging from 156 to 180 horsepower and maximum torque from 192 to 416 Nm.

The Hyundai Tucson’s engines are mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission, an 8-speed automatic transmission, or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Depending on the variant, the model features either front-wheel drive or HTRAC all-wheel drive.

Honda CR-V: 291 units

The Honda CR-V experienced the most significant decline in sales within the C-segment SUV market last August. Its sales dropped by 49.3% to only 291 units. Consequently, the CR-V slipped to fourth place in the segment.

Honda CR-V

From September 1, 2024, Honda adjusted the CR-V’s price for three variants: G, L 2WD, and L AWD. The new price tags for these variants are 1.029 billion VND, 1.099 billion VND, and 1.25 billion VND, respectively. Compared to the previous prices, the model witnessed a reduction of 60 to 80 million VND. Meanwhile, the hybrid version, the e:HEV RS, retained its original price of 1.259 billion VND.

In addition to the price reduction, the G, L 2WD, and L AWD variants of the Honda CR-V also benefit from the government’s 50% registration fee reduction for domestically produced and assembled vehicles. As a result, customers can save between 51 and 75 million VND, depending on the variant and registration province or city.

Despite its high price within the segment, the Honda CR-V impresses with its design and equipment. Moreover, the Honda CR-V offers two engine options. The first is a turbocharged 4-cylinder 1.5L gasoline engine that delivers 188 horsepower and 240 Nm of torque, paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission and either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The second option is a hybrid system, comprising a 2.0L 4-cylinder gasoline engine producing 146 horsepower, combined with two electric motors with a total output of 181 horsepower. Together, the system generates 204 horsepower and 335 Nm of torque.

Kia Sportage: 291 units

Similar to the Honda CR-V, the Kia Sportage sold 291 units in August 2024. However, unlike the CR-V, the Sportage witnessed a sales growth of 28.7%. Both models share fourth place in the C-segment SUV market.

Kia Sportage

The Kia Sportage is available in eight variants in the Vietnamese market, with prices ranging from 779 to 999 million VND. Despite its competitive pricing within the segment, the model has not attracted a significant customer base. In addition to its intricate design, the Kia Sportage was initially launched with a high price tag, making customers hesitant.

Under the hood, the Kia Sportage shares the same three engine options as the Hyundai Tucson, as both models are produced by the Hyundai Motor Group.

Mitsubishi Outlander: 217 units

The Mitsubishi Outlander witnessed the highest growth rate in the C-segment SUV market. Its sales surged by 152.3% to reach 217 units. Unfortunately, the Outlander’s sales performance still lags behind its competitors, ranking last in the segment.

Mitsubishi Outlander

In September 2024, the Mitsubishi Outlander benefits from a 50% registration fee incentive for domestically produced and assembled vehicles, valued at 41 to 47 million VND. Additionally, customers who purchase the vehicle will receive a fuel voucher and a 360-degree camera worth 20 million VND from the brand.

The Mitsubishi Outlander is a model that has not received significant upgrades in terms of design or equipment for a long time. Its price is also not very attractive, ranging from 825 to 950 million VND for two variants. Consequently, the model has not achieved impressive sales figures.

The Mitsubishi Outlander is equipped with a 2.0L MIVEC 4-cylinder gasoline engine that delivers 145 horsepower and 196 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a CVT transmission.
