J.D. Power’s latest survey revealed the top three most reliable SUV engines for 2024: the Toyota 4Runner, Toyota Highlander, and Lexus GX. While these SUVs represent different brands, they all fall under the umbrella of Toyota Motor Corporation. Lexus and Toyota share many components, features, and equipment, with Lexus positioned as a luxury brand using more expensive materials.

According to J.D. Power’s findings, the Toyota 4Runner 2024 achieved a reliability rating of 86/100, which is above average and commendable. A score of 70-80 is considered average, while 81-100 is above average, and 91-100 is the highest.

The Toyota 4Runner 2024 is equipped with a reliable 4.0-liter V6 engine that delivers 270 horsepower and 377 Nm of torque. On average, a 4Runner can last over 480,000 km and even up to 640,000 km.

Following closely is the Toyota Highlander, with an average reliability score of 79. This SUV is powered by a 2.4-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine that produces 265 horsepower and 420 Nm of torque. One impressive feature of this engine is its bulletproof capability. As one of the most reliable SUVs, the Highlander can typically last between 480,000 and 650,000 km.

Lastly, the Lexus GX 2024 achieved an impressive reliability rating of 89/100, just shy of the highest rating. The standard 4.6-liter V8 engine in the Lexus GX 2024 generates 301 horsepower and 649 Nm of torque. A Lexus GX is expected to last over 480,000 km.

Drivers should remember that proper care and regular maintenance are key to extending the lifespan of their vehicles.
