This 7-seater SUV concept shares similar design cues with the Xforce and is predicted to be the new Pajero/Pajero Sport. Mitsubishi states that this vehicle will “cater to mobile lifestyles” while “delivering excitement to everyone on board.”

Mitsubishi Motors has just given us a big reason to look forward to the upcoming 2024 Philippines International Auto Show. This will be the first time Mitsubishi has chosen the Philippines as the global launchpad for a new vehicle – a concept SUV in the 7-seater segment.

“This new concept reflects Mitsubishi Motors’ vision of delivering top-quality vehicles to the ASEAN region, and we are thrilled that this will be realized for the first time in the Philippines,” said MMPC President and CEO, Ritsu Imaeda.

Mitsubishi has not revealed any detailed information, only stating that the vehicle will “cater to mobile lifestyles” and “deliver excitement to everyone on board.”

The Japanese brand also released a partial image of the concept vehicle’s front end and rear pillar. However, the image suggests that this 7-seater SUV concept may also feature a boxy design with some styling cues similar to the all-new Xforce. This is most evident in the design of the front light cluster.

Meanwhile, the image of the rear pillar showcases a unique tiered design, along with a portion of the taillight that extends to the vehicle’s side. The visible body frame below appears robust, with a prominent line running from the side to the taillight.

In November, the Australian automotive news site, Drive, reported that at least two SUVs had been approved for launch in 2025 as part of Mitsubishi’s Challenge 2025 product strategy, encompassing 16 models by 2028. One of these is designated as a three-row SUV, and the other is either a pickup truck or a PPV – a description for SUV models with pickup truck bodies, common in Asia.

Based on the product timeline chart, the three-row SUV is positioned slightly higher than the PPV, fueling speculations that the new model could be a draft of an entirely new Pajero or Pajero Sport (a less likely possibility).

The Mitsubishi Pajero Sport was first introduced in 2015 and has since undergone two facelifts, in 2019 and 2024. Meanwhile, the Pajero line was discontinued in 2021, but there have been rumors of a potential comeback for this iconic model.

With Mitsubishi keeping further details under wraps, their booth at the 9th Philippines International Auto Show, taking place from October 24 to 27 at the World Trade Center, is expected to draw significant crowds.
