A Stolen Ferrari 812 GTS Was Recovered Thanks to the Owner’s Forgotten Apple AirPods
On September 16, the Waterbury City Police, Connecticut, received a report of a stolen Ferrari 812 GTS in black. Thanks to the Find My feature of the owner’s AirPods left in the car, the authorities were able to swiftly locate and track down the vehicle.
The Ferrari was found parked at a gas station on South Main Street in Waterbury, approximately 100 km from where it was stolen.
Upon realizing they were being tailed by the authorities, the thieves attempted to flee the scene. However, one of them accidentally dropped a phone, which helped the police identify Dion Schontten as the culprit. He was arrested on September 25, along with Keon Webster, who was involved in the theft of an Acura TLX and an Audi S8.
The stolen Ferrari 812 GTS is valued at over $575,000 (14.22 billion VNĐ). It is the convertible version of the 812 Superfast.
The Ferrari 812 GTS is powered by a 6.5-liter V12 engine, producing 789 horsepower and 718 Nm of torque. Paired with a 7-speed automatic dual-clutch transmission, the car can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in around 3 seconds and reach a top speed of over 340 km/h.
