Recently, social media has been abuzz with images of four new Skoda cars that have arrived at Ho Chi Minh City’s port. Many speculate that these are the models that Skoda will be showcasing at this year’s VMS exhibition.
Based on the shared images, of the four cars, three are the new-generation Skoda Kodiaq: one in blue, one in grey, and one in teal. The fourth car is the electric Skoda Enyaq IV in a bright yellow hue.
Skoda Kodiaq 2024
The Kodiaq 2024 was globally unveiled in October 2023, built on the MQB platform of its parent company, Volkswagen. Its dimensions stand at 4,758 x 1,864 x 1,657 mm (length x width x height), with a wheelbase of 2,791 mm. Compared to the previous generation sold in Vietnam, the new model is 61 mm longer, 18 mm narrower, and 24 mm lower, while the wheelbase remains unchanged.
The overall design remains largely unchanged, with subtle refinements to the headlights/taillights, bumpers, and alloy wheels. The Kodiaq features matrix LED headlights with distinctive LED daytime running lights in the shape of the letter “T”. The taillights also sport a new design, accentuated by a horizontal LED strip across the tailgate.
In terms of interior, the Kodiaq’s cabin boasts a modern and minimalist design. It is equipped with a 12.9-inch infotainment screen, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and a HUD display. The central control cluster has been redesigned for a more streamlined look, and the gear selector has been relocated from the center console to behind the steering wheel.
The high-end trim features a 14-speaker Canton sound system, four USB-C ports, and front seats with built-in massage functions. The 2024 Kodiaq also sees an upgrade in interior materials.
It is unclear what engine options the Skoda Kodiaq 2024 will offer in Vietnam. Internationally, the model is available with four engine variants, including petrol, diesel, and hybrid options. Notably, the PHEV version combines a 1.5 TSI Evo 2 petrol engine with an electric motor, producing a total output of 201 horsepower. This is complemented by a 25.7 kWh battery pack that enables a pure electric range of over 100 km and supports fast DC charging up to 50 kW.
The current Kodiaq generation sold in Vietnam lacks ADAS features. It is highly likely that the new generation will incorporate this technology, as it has become a standard offering in the mid-size SUV segment.
Skoda Enyaq IV
Previously, Skoda had announced plans to launch the Enyaq IV electric vehicle in Vietnam in 2025. However, the fact that the company is showcasing the model at VMS 2024 hints at the possibility of an earlier release, perhaps even by the end of this year.
The Skoda Enyaq IV measures 4,648 x 1,877 x 1,618 mm in length, width, and height, with a wheelbase of 2,765 mm. These dimensions make it slightly more compact than its competitor, the VinFast VF 8.
The Enyaq IV’s interior is characterized by its simplicity, featuring a 5.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 13-inch central screen that integrates all vehicle functions and supports Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity.
The Skoda Enyaq IV offers three battery options: 55 kWh, 62 kWh, and 82 kWh, providing a maximum range of 340 km to 566 km on a single charge. Engine power outputs range from 146 to 340 horsepower, with rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive configurations available. The specific variant that will be available in Vietnam is yet to be confirmed.
