Mitsubishi’s upcoming seven-seater SUV is scheduled to make its official debut at the 2024 Philippines International Motor Show (PIMS 2024). The automaker has described the vehicle as one that will “cater to mobile lifestyles” while “delivering excitement for everyone on board.”

Earlier in October, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines (MMPC) released teaser images of its upcoming three-row SUV. This sparked speculations among enthusiasts about whether it would be the next-generation Montero Sport or an entirely new Xforce

Based on the images released by the manufacturer, the vehicle appears to be a unibody SUV with three rows of seats, similar in size to the Xpander. Mitsubishi already has the Xpander Cross crossover MPV in its lineup, but this new model leans more toward the SUV design with its rugged and robust bumper and body design.

To give enthusiasts a better idea of the design of this three-row SUV, artists from Top Gear Philippines have created a rendering of its exterior.

According to Top Gear Philippines, the three-row SUV will have a longer body, resembling a wagon-like design compared to the Xforce. It is likely to share the same wheelbase as the Xpander. The new three-row SUV continues the design language of the Xforce with a blend of Triton and Montero Sport influences.

As seen in the rendering, the front of the vehicle retains the familiar Dynamic Shield grille with a more rectangular design, as opposed to the trapezoidal grille on the Xforce

On the sides, it features Montero Sport-like mudguards, giving it a muscular and robust appearance.

While we have not yet seen the rear design, it is likely to take cues from the Xforce. In the rendering, the license plate is positioned on the rear door, similar to other three-row SUVs from Mitsubishi, such as the Montero Sport and Outlander. The pillars are expected to be blacked out to create the “floating roof” effect that many automakers are embracing these days.

Official specifications have not been revealed, but if it shares the same platform as the Xforce and Xpander, it is likely to be powered by Mitsubishi’s familiar 1.5-liter MIVEC 4A91 gasoline engine, producing 104 horsepower.

Additionally, it may offer the Xpander HEV’s hybrid system, which combines a 1.6-liter Atkinson-cycle gasoline engine with an electric motor, resulting in a total system output of 114 horsepower and 255 Nm of torque. The SUV is expected to retain the MacPherson strut front suspension and torsion beam rear suspension, freeing up space in the rear for the third row of seats.
