The all-electric CUV, MG ES5, has been recently unveiled. As a compact family CUV, the MG ES5 offers three range options: 425 km, 515 km, and 525 km. The model has been renamed from “S5” to “ES5”. Pricing is expected to range from 100,000 to 150,000 CNY (~$331 to $496 million VND) and will be released by the end of this year.

Built on SAIC’s pure electric Nebula architecture, the MG ES5 features a 5-link rear suspension system. This CUV has a length, width, and height of 4,476 x 1,849 x 1,621 mm, respectively, and a wheelbase of 2,730 mm. The unloaded vehicle weight options are 1,685 kg and 1,740 kg. The maximum official in-car usage area is 4.24 square meters.

In terms of design, the front of the MG ES5 is minimalistic yet sleek. It features a split grille design combined with slender and sharp headlights.

From the side profile, the MG ES5 has traditional door handles, black mirrors contrasting the exterior color, and silver roof rails. It offers two wheel options of 17 and 18 inches. At the rear, the MG ES5 impresses with its unique Y-shaped taillights.

Inside the cabin, the dashboard features a popular central control screen layout with a flat-bottomed steering wheel and dashboard. The screen size has not yet been disclosed. The central control panel has a hollow design, providing additional storage space underneath, along with two cup holders and wireless charging support for mobile phones.

The MG ES5 is powered by a rear electric motor, delivering a maximum output of 168 horsepower and a peak torque of 250 Nm. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 8 seconds and reach a top speed of 170 km/h. Depending on the lithium iron phosphate battery capacity – 49.1 kWh or 62.2 kWh, supplied by the CATL-SAIC joint venture, the all-electric range options are 425 km, 515 km, and 525 km (based on CLTC standards). According to the manufacturer, the 110 mm thickness of the MG ES5’s battery pack is among the thinnest in the world.
