The VinFast VF 3 gets a makeover from Saigon-based tuner, Xuân Hoàn, blending Land Rover Defender aesthetics with a hint of Mercedes-inspired luxury.

Nearly two months after teasing his unique modification plans for the newly-purchased VinFast VF 3, Mr. Xuân Hoàn has finally unveiled the completed project. The transformation is remarkable, with the compact VinFast VF 3 taking on the rugged styling cues of the iconic Land Rover Defender SUV.

The most noticeable change is perhaps the round headlamps, a signature feature of the Defender. The front grille and bumper have also been redesigned, now incorporating LED daytime running lights. According to the tuner, the front and rear bumpers, as well as the grille, are made from composite materials, offering quicker shaping and enhanced durability compared to traditional plastics, albeit with a 30% weight penalty.

Additional modifications include the fitment of laser bulbs, new positioning lamps, and a redesigned ‘V’ logo, which is smaller, gold-plated, and positioned on the right side of the vehicle, reminiscent of Land Rover’s logo placement on the Defender.

The hood has been modified to open conventionally, and a composite storage compartment, carefully upholstered, has been added beneath it.

From the side profile, the VinFast VF 3 sports glossy black mirrors with LED turn signals. The custom-made Mansory-style wheels are a standout feature, with Mr. Xuân Hoàn claiming that these 16-inchers are one-of-a-kind.

At the rear, the VinFast VF 3 boasts a full-width LED taillight, further emphasizing its Defender-inspired design language.

The interior has also been thoroughly revamped, featuring a custom center console that spans the length of the front seats, incorporating wireless charging and storage solutions. The door cards have been redesigned with Mercedes-inspired touch-sensitive seat controls, adding a modern touch. The audio system has been upgraded as well, now featuring an 8-inch subwoofer.

The seats have been swapped out for a set of Mercedes E63 units, costing a cool 180 million VND. The black leather upholstery with red stitching adds a touch of sportiness to the cabin. The rear seats have also been modified to offer individual folding capabilities.

Furthermore, a custom switch has been added below the steering wheel to control the battery disconnect, doing away with the traditional key-operated battery lock.

Powering the VinFast VF 3 is an electric motor mounted on the rear axle, producing 43 hp and 110 Nm of torque. This setup enables the vehicle to sprint from 0-50 km/h in just 5.3 seconds. The lithium-ion battery pack has a usable capacity of 18.64 kWh, offering a range of up to 210 km on a single charge, as per the NEDC standard. Charging times are impressive, with a slow charge from 10% to 70% taking just 5 hours, and a quick charge accomplishing the same in only 36 minutes.
