Answering the call to action “Fiercely the Vietnamese Spirit – For a Green Future” initiated by Vingroup, Vietnamese enterprises are making an unprecedented transformation to build a true Vietnamese electric vehicle ecosystem, aiming for a sustainable future for the community.
Enterprises from all sectors are switching to electric vehicles.
“I jokingly told businesses to go ahead with the transition, and I’ll bear the losses because I’m too confident in the cost-saving capabilities of VinFast electric vehicles,” said Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Dong, Director of Dong Thuy Co., Ltd. (operator of Lado Taxi) frankly during a meeting in late September between VinFast – GSM and more than 50 passenger transport enterprises in Vietnam.
Lado Taxi is one of the taxi brands that has pioneered in committing to a 100% transition from gasoline to electric vehicles with 1,100 cars by the end of 2024, after recognizing the superior economic benefits that green vehicles bring.
Sharing the same view, Mr. Ho Chuong, Director of Son Nam International Transport Co., Ltd., the owner of the MaiLove taxi brand in Nghe An province, said that he had signed a contract to purchase gasoline-powered cars from a Japanese brand but was willing to cancel the order and forfeit the deposit to switch to electric vehicles. The reason, according to his calculation, is that electric vehicles will save the company up to 60% compared to gasoline-powered cars. In addition, he believes that the transition to electric vehicles is in line with the government’s orientation on the development of green and clean public transport and is a long-term and sustainable direction.
Lado Taxi and MaiLove are just two of many transport service enterprises in Vietnam that have been switching to electric vehicles. Some companies even boldly buy and lease up to 5,000 cars to gradually replace and eventually phase out their existing gasoline-powered fleets.
This wave is spreading even further as numerous enterprises in other fields have also signed cooperation agreements with VinFast and its partners to promote the green transition.
Recently, the Director of NIAĐ Investment and Development Joint Stock Company decided to lease 200 VinFast VF 8 and VF 9 vehicles to provide long-term transportation services for partner companies. Earlier, in October, the Vietnam Railways Corporation (VNR) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Comprehensive Green Transition Cooperation with the Vingroup conglomerate. Previously, in April 2024, FPT Corporation signed a cooperation agreement with Vingroup with the same goal…
Join hands to build a green vehicle ecosystem
According to experts, the wave of green transition among enterprises is stronger than ever in Vietnam. Besides the vision of each enterprise, the key point is the ability to inspire pioneering enterprises like Vingroup/VinFast, especially with the campaign “Fiercely the Vietnamese Spirit – For a Green Future.
“There has never been a time when the business community has been so united. It’s not just about switching to a different mode of transportation; thanks to the efforts of pioneering enterprises like VinFast, other businesses are also contributing to building a green ecosystem. This goes beyond the profit story of any single enterprise,” said Dr. Le Huynh Trong An, an economist in Ho Chi Minh City.
He gave an example that, within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding on Green Transition Promotion with VinFast and its partners, the Director of NIAĐ Investment and Development Joint Stock Company will coordinate to open new V-Green charging stations at the company’s headquarters and offices under its management.
At the same time, CarOn Holdings, which owns a chain of automobile service centers nationwide, will be authorized to repair, warranty, and maintain VinFast electric vehicles, with 10 workshops put into operation in October. At the same time, electric vehicle owners can also use the services of the “MeKong Xanh SM” system – a chain of automobile maintenance and repair workshops established by GSM and MeKong Xanh, a subsidiary of Mai Linh Group.
Thanks to these “handshakes” between the giants, by the end of 2024, the electric vehicle ecosystem is expected to have a total of 150 workshops nationwide – an “unbelievable” speed compared to any other car manufacturer in the market.
Instead of competing, the “win-win” cooperation model between VinFast, V-Green, GSM, and Vietnamese enterprises is expected to increase the number of charging stations and workshops for electric vehicles rapidly, meeting the maximum demands of users. These collaborations become even more meaningful as the number of VinFast electric vehicles sold in the recent month has risen to the number one position in the market, signaling the explosion of pure electric vehicles in the last months of the year.
“The more amenities there are, the first beneficiaries will be the people who use electric vehicles. This is the basis for promoting the rapid popularization of green vehicles in Vietnam, as well as laying the foundation for VinFast to become a world-class ‘make in Vietnam’ brand,” said Mr. An.
In this process, Mr. An emphasized the importance of community collaboration with pioneering enterprises like VinFast. This is a significant lesson from countries once considered economic miracles, such as South Korea. “Vietnam can do it like South Korea, even better, with the collaboration of the people and businesses with a strong vision and determination like VinFast,” he said.
A Brighter Future: Igniting Vietnam’s Green Revolution

This collective effort aims to establish a truly Vietnamese electric vehicle ecosystem, paving the way towards a sustainable future for the community.”
