The Mazda EZ-6: Electrifying Performance with Two Powertrain Options
Mazda has recently confirmed the launch of the EZ-6 on October 25th in the Chinese market. This exciting vehicle is a collaboration between the Japanese automotive brand and China’s Changan Automobile, offering two distinct versions: a pure electric vehicle (BEV) and an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV).
The Mazda EZ-6 boasts impressive dimensions, with a length of 4,921 mm, a width of 1,890 mm, and a height of 1,485 mm, making it significantly larger than the current Mazda6.
Its design exudes a sporty aesthetic, featuring a fastback-style roofline. The front grille captures attention with its 3D-effect design, accented by a LED light ring. Slim LED daytime running lights, a signature of Mazda’s design language, grace the sides, while the main headlights are positioned lower down.
At the rear, the distinctive dual circular LED taillights remain, now complemented by a full-width LED strip across the trunk lid. Additionally, the EZ-6 is equipped with a duck-tail spoiler that activates at speeds above 90 km/h, enhancing its aerodynamic performance.
The interior of the Mazda EZ-6 showcases a modern and sophisticated design. A prominent 14.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system takes center stage on the dashboard, accompanied by a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster. The vehicle also features a premium Sony sound system and a Snapdragon 8155 processor to elevate the in-car entertainment experience. Customizable 64-color ambient lighting further enhances the ambiance to match various moods.
The EREV version of the Mazda EZ-6 is equipped with a rear-mounted 215-horsepower electric motor, paired with a 1.5L gasoline engine that functions as a generator. Together, they offer an impressive range of approximately 1,300 km on a full charge. The EREV model also supports fast charging, enabling a quick boost from 30% to 80% battery in just 20 minutes.
The pure electric variant of the Mazda EZ-6 is powered by a rear-axle-mounted MSED04 190 kW electric motor, coupled with a choice of two battery packs: a 56.1 kWh or a 68.8 kWh battery, offering ranges of 480 km and 600 km respectively.
