All four VinFast VF 8 vehicles remained resilient and performed admirably in temperatures as low as -5 degrees Celsius and at an altitude of over 5,200 meters during their conquest of the Everest Base Camp. The team members proudly shared that many Chinese people were astonished by the presence of Vietnamese electric vehicles at this particularly challenging location.

The journey of the four VinFast VF 8 vehicles to conquer Tibet is nearing the halfway mark. Specifically, on the G318 Expressway, these electric vehicles have surpassed the 4,000-kilometer and 5,000-kilometer milestones. Overcoming numerous obstacles, the team leader, Mr. Chu Huu Tho, shared: “So far, we have been adhering to our schedule and moving according to our plans. All team members have maintained high spirits and good health to continue exploring new territories.”

The Vietnamese electric vehicle team has reached the Everest Base Camp

According to the team members, they passed through the renowned Everest Base Camp, a mandatory stop for any professional mountaineer. At an altitude of over 5,2000 meters, the weather conditions here are extremely harsh, with temperatures dropping to -5 degrees Celsius.

The VF 8 vehicles functioned normally despite the freezing temperature of -5 degrees Celsius

“Despite the challenging weather, all four VinFast VF 8 vehicles operated normally and adapted well to the cold,” shared Mr. Tho. He added that the electric motor and battery systems of the VF 8 maintained stable performance. Many team members were surprised that despite the extremely harsh conditions, the energy consumption of the VF 8’s battery showed minimal deviation from ideal conditions. The battery temperature was maintained at 28-30 degrees Celsius.

The vehicles are equipped with all-season tires, enabling them to navigate icy and snowy conditions without difficulty. Additionally, crucial functions such as seat heating, steering wheel heating, and dual-zone climate control operated normally, which was essential for keeping everyone warm and maintaining their health.

Charging the VF 8 vehicles in China has become more manageable

Mr. Tho mentioned that the team has become more familiar with the charging infrastructure in China, and charging the vehicles has become more efficient compared to the initial days of the journey. With the use of an adapter, the VinFast VF 8 is compatible with most charging stations in the country. The team can conveniently charge their vehicles at restaurants and hotels during their stops.

During their travels, the team members realized that the four VinFast VF 8 vehicles acted as a “magnet,” attracting tourists and locals alike. Many Chinese people expressed surprise at the presence of the Vietnamese electric vehicle team and praised their journey and the design of the VF 8. This brought a sense of pride to each team member.
