The all-new fifth-generation Kia Sportage was unveiled in June 2021, so it comes as no surprise that the brand is preparing to launch a mid-life cycle refresh for this C-segment SUV.
Recently, Kia released a short video, revealing the first images of the 2025 Sportage. While the images are not entirely clear, they do showcase some new design details of this South Korean vehicle.

The Sportage will feature new headlights and taillights to create a cohesive look with other Kia models. Similar to the latest Kia products, the 2024 Sportage will also sport vertically-oriented headlights, LED daytime running lights, and taillights inspired by constellations.

Additionally, the 2025 Sportage boasts a more muscular front end thanks to sharper vertical headlights and a new, upright grille. On the sides, this C-segment SUV remains largely unchanged as it is only a mid-life cycle refresh. Kia has only added new wheel designs to the vehicle.

The 2025 Kia Sportage also features a new grille.
These changes are expected to be applied to both the long-wheelbase and short-wheelbase versions of the Kia Sportage. The long-wheelbase model is sold in markets such as South Korea, North America, Australia, and Vietnam, while the short-wheelbase version is offered in Europe.

Kia has also applied the new design language seen in models like the Morning, Sorento, Carnival, K5, and K8 to the new Sportage. This design philosophy is also used for the brand’s latest electric vehicles.
Images of the 2025 Sportage’s interior have not been revealed yet. However, based on spy shots of the car undergoing road tests, it appears that the cabin has received significant improvements. Kia has equipped the Sportage with a new dashboard featuring a large curved display that is expected to integrate a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch central touchscreen. Other updates include improved buttons and a new two-spoke steering wheel.

Under the skin, the 2025 Sportage will continue to utilize the same platform as its sibling, the Hyundai Tucson. The powertrain options are also expected to remain unchanged.
In the South Korean market, the Kia Sportage is currently offered with four engine choices. The first is a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 180 horsepower and 265 Nm of torque. The 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel engine generates 183 horsepower and 416 Nm of torque.
The third option is a hybrid powertrain that combines a 1.6-liter turbocharged Smartstream four-cylinder gasoline engine, a 44.2 kW electric motor, and a 1.49 kWh lithium-ion polymer battery pack. This system delivers a total output of 230 horsepower and 349 Nm of torque.
Lastly, there is the SmartStream 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that runs on liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). It produces 146 horsepower and 191 Nm of torque.
These engines are mated to either a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, a 6-speed manual, an 8-speed automatic, or a 6-speed automatic.
2025 Kia Sportage is expected to retain the same engines.
According to the plan, the 2025 Kia Sportage will be officially launched in the South Korean market in November this year.
