The all-new MG HS made its debut at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed in July, and has now made a surprise appearance in the Philippines following its UK launch.
MG showcased the new HS at the 2024 Philippines International Motor Show (PIMS), with the 2025 model year on display. The MG HS presented at the show was the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version.

At the heart of the MG HS PHEV is a plug-in hybrid system comprising a 1.5L 4-cylinder petrol engine producing 141 hp, combined with a potent 207 hp electric motor. This setup delivers a combined output of 322 hp and 570 Nm of peak torque.
With this setup, the SUV can sprint from 0-100 km/h in 6.8 seconds. Additionally, the C-segment SUV is equipped with a 24.7 kWh battery, enabling it to travel up to 121 km on electric power alone. When utilizing both the petrol engine and battery, the HS offers a combined range of 1,065 km. The battery can be charged via the engine or a 7 kW slow AC charger, taking 4.5 hours to fully charge.

In addition to the new powertrain, the MG HS 2025 has been upgraded in terms of dimensions, design, and equipment. The vehicle’s length varies from 4,655 to 4,670 mm, depending on the version, with a width of 1,890 mm and a wheelbase of 2,765 mm. The wheelbase has increased by 45 mm compared to the previous model.

While MG hasn’t directly confirmed it, the new HS is evidently based on the Roewe RX5 of the third generation currently sold in China. The two vehicles share design similarities, such as the side profile, head and taillight designs, and 19-inch alloy wheels. MG has also added new exterior design elements to the HS, including a sportier-looking grille and front bumper with air intakes.

Furthermore, the MG HS 2025 introduces a pair of 12.3-inch screens on the dashboard and a new gear selector in the center console. Depending on the trim level, standard features may include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, wireless phone charging, an 8-speaker audio system, a panoramic sunroof, power tailgate, LED ambient lighting, a 360-degree camera, and the MG Pilot ADAS suite.

The pricing and availability of the 2025 MG HS in the Philippines are yet to be announced. As the upgraded MG HS was introduced in Vietnam earlier this year, it is unlikely that the new generation will be launched in the country in the near future.
