The Vietnam PVOIL Cup 2024 Off-Road Car Racing Championship is one of the most prominent events in the Vietnamese off-road community, challenging both racers and enthusiasts alike on rugged terrain.
The event will take place from November 1st to 3rd at the Vietnam Ethnic Culture Museum in Dong Mo.
Challenging the Professional Racing Car
The PVOil VOC race is an annual event that attracts hundreds of off-road racing enthusiasts from across the country to compete in various categories. Here, off-road vehicles showcase their prowess on complex terrain.
Fans not only get to spectate but also have the opportunity to discover the true potential of the Suzuki Jimny, a renowned Japanese off-road vehicle, in a challenging environment right on the Dong Mo racetrack.
Specifically, Suzuki, in collaboration with the race organizers, has designed a special course that allows customers to get behind the wheel of this compact and powerful four-wheel-drive vehicle and experience off-road racing first-hand. Even if you’re not a professional racer, you can still navigate the challenging terrain in a vehicle that embodies the pinnacle of off-road perfection.
The course utilizes the natural structure of the racetrack, incorporating diverse surfaces such as forests, hills, rocky areas, and pits on the hillside, simulating every challenge the vehicle might encounter on its journey to conquer the limits of both the driver and the car.
Particularly, the experience of climbing up and down slopes on an unstable road (with numerous pits and muddy areas) allows fans to clearly perceive the anti-torsion capability of the separate frame system while also gauging the effectiveness of the two-wheel-drive system in a compact vehicle.
The Jimny‘s unique suspension and shock absorber system features a 3-link independent suspension with a spacious shock absorber arrangement, allowing for maximum compression when the vehicle tilts sideways during the experience route.
But that’s not all; in narrow forest paths, only the Jimny can maneuver through the bushes and hairpin bends where larger four-wheel-drive vehicles often struggle to get through. Its compact size is Suzuki Jimny’s forte in situations where engine power is no longer the key factor.
Pushing Emotions to the Extreme
According to driving instructor Duong Quang, the Jimny course designers spent time studying the Dong Mo racetrack to find a way to utilize the natural terrain alongside additional constructed elements to highlight the vehicle’s exceptional off-road capabilities.
“Our idea for putting Jimny on this off-road course was to ‘let the tiger return to the forest,’ to excite both fans and customers when they get behind the wheel,” said expert Duong Quang. “After completing a lap and reaching the finish line, they will want to go for another round.”
The Jimny owners’ club in Hanoi also attended the event to challenge their vehicles in instinctive driving conditions. The Jimny owners expressed their confidence in the vehicle’s agile and responsive performance and were thrilled to see the growing community and culture around Jimny in Vietnam through high-quality events like this one.
Khanh Pham from Hanoi, one of the first people in Vietnam to own a Suzuki Jimny, shared that although he had been driving his car for almost a year, it was only now that he had the opportunity to experience the hidden power under the hood of this compact yet cool car. “Jimny never fails to bring me new and exciting emotions every day,” he said.
Hai Cuong, a professional off-road racer, explained that the Suzuki Jimny is the smallest SUV on the market with a slow transfer case for its part-time four-wheel-drive system. Its unique body-on-frame construction, with a separate rigid frame and two solid axles delivering power to all four wheels, enables the wheels to tuck in or splay out to the maximum on various off-road terrains that a conventional four-wheel-drive vehicle would struggle to navigate. Thus, he confidently took the Jimny on challenging off-road adventures.
Freedom on New and Unusual Paths
Owning a Suzuki Jimny is not just about having a car; it’s about expressing your personal style and standing out. When you sit behind the wheel of a Jimny, you hold the key to limitless adventures and become part of a community of off-road enthusiasts eager to explore new and unusual paths.
Jimny offers owners the joy of discovering new ways to make their vehicles unique, from changing paint colors and interior decorations to upgrading technical features.
The special connection you forge with this vehicle goes beyond performance; it’s about your personal experiences and a lifestyle of freedom, exploration, and a desire for innovation.
A Symbol of Pride
As an icon in the off-road world, with its distinct, assertive, and emotional character, Suzuki Jimny has, as of August 2023, achieved a global sales figure of 3.33 million units over its 53-year history.
Throughout the years, the Suzuki Jimny has garnered numerous design awards, including the Good Design Gold Award in Japan (2018) and the World Urban Car of the Year Award (2019). It has won the hearts of not only professional drivers and experienced car enthusiasts but also first-time car buyers and women drivers.
