Porsche Leadership Confirms Expansion of 911 Variants with the Arrival of the 911 Turbo Hybrid in 2025

In a recent announcement, Porsche confirmed that the next-generation 911 Turbo will be unveiled next year and will feature a hybrid powertrain, similar to the latest Carrera GTS. This information was shared by Porsche’s CFO, Lutz Meschke, during the company’s Q3 sales meeting.

According to Meschke, the new 911 will be equipped with a battery system from Varta. Earlier this year, Porsche and Varta strengthened their strategic partnership when the German carmaker acquired a majority stake in V4Drive Battery GmbH, a subsidiary of the Varta group.

Meschke also revealed that the lithium-ion battery cells for the 1.9 kWh battery pack in the 911 GTS are currently in the “industrialization process,” indicating ramped-up production. This production capability allows Porsche to expand its sports car portfolio with the Turbo Hybrid variant in 2025. To maintain the flagship model’s sporty character, the new 911 Turbo is expected to retain its traditional twin-turbocharged engine.
