Some vehicles are designed to get you from point A to point B, and then there are those that are imagined to redefine the very idea of travel. The Brabus Big Boy 1200 certainly falls into the latter category, a luxurious and extravagant camper that could easily serve as a billionaire’s lavish apartment, command center, or perhaps a private hideaway on wheels.
Crafted by Brabus on a Mercedes Actros truck platform, this colossal RV offers over 30 square meters (323 square feet) of refined living space. It’s the first in a planned series of large-scale “Masterpiece” vehicles from Brabus, developed in collaboration with Belgian company STX Motorhomes.
Up Close with the Brabus Big Boy 1200: A $1.4 Million Mobile 5-Star Suite
From the outside, the vehicle resembles a large black rectangular block that could serve as a villain’s lair in a movie. Only the LED lights and carbon fiber accents on the grille attempt to break the monotony of the black aluminum-composite body.
With a length of 12 meters, a width of 2.5 meters, and a height of 4 meters, this behemoth makes the over-hyped Tesla Cybertruck look like a child’s toy. And, as if its size wasn’t conversation-starting enough, four electrically operated slide-out modules expand the living space further when parked, with hydraulic stabilizers ensuring stability.
Step inside via the electrically operated staircase, and you’re greeted by a luxurious lounge that leads into a spacious bedroom. The bedroom includes a double bed, two sofas, and another single bed above the driver’s cabin, accommodating you and a modest entourage.
The opulent bathroom is clad in natural stone tiles and features a shower, toilet, and sink. The kitchen is equipped with high-end appliances (cooktop, oven, dishwasher, refrigerator, freezer, coffee machine, wine cooler, etc.), while the living room can double as a dining area or remote office.
Off-Grid Connectivity and Power Solutions
In terms of connectivity, a Starlink satellite dish and a Wi-Fi router keep the Big Boy 1200 constantly online, no matter how remote the location.
The interior also boasts a pair of 43-inch 4K TVs, a PS5 gaming console, and a premium sound system. Similar to Brabus-tuned cars, the cabin is upholstered in fine leather and Alcantara, accented with carbon fiber.
A total of eight solar panels mounted on the roof, a large battery pack, and a generator ensure that occupants have enough electricity to stay off-grid for extended periods. The Brabus Big Boy 1200 is equipped with large tanks for freshwater and wastewater.
The insulated aluminum sandwich body construction is weather-resistant, allowing the climate control and auxiliary heating systems to maintain comfortable conditions inside the cabin. The windows feature integrated roller blinds, along with an electric skylight on the roof.
12.8-Liter Turbo Diesel Engine
Beneath, the Brabus Big Boy 1200 rides on a tri-axle chassis with dual rear axles. Power comes from a massive 12.8-liter turbodiesel engine that produces 523 horsepower and a whopping 2,600 Nm of torque.
While the horsepower figure may seem modest by Brabus standards, that torque is more than enough to haul its weight. Not built for speed demons, the top speed is electronically limited to 90 km/h.
Now, the million-dollar question: How much does it cost? The Brabus Big Boy 1200 is built to order with a starting price of €1,260,504.20 (approximately $1,373,000 at current exchange rates) before taxes.
Perhaps the only missing accessory for speed enthusiasts is a matching trailer for their Brabus-tuned Mercedes-AMG SL, allowing them to indulge in the crazy flavors of Brabus wherever they go.
