Ford has recently unveiled a mid-cycle refresh of its Equator SUV.

The Equator is a product of a joint venture between Ford and Jiangling Motors Corporation (JMC) and was designed at the Ford China Design Center in Shanghai.

This mid-life update sees the Ford Equator not only receive design enhancements but also a new powertrain.

Powering the 2025 Equator is a plug-in hybrid system that combines a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with an electric motor and an 18.4 kWh battery. This setup delivers a combined output of 362 horsepower and 555 Nm of torque.

The vehicle can run solely on electric power for up to 110 km and has a combined range of 1,205 km. Additionally, it is equipped with fast charging, taking it from 30 to 80% in just 14 minutes. It is also compatible with bidirectional charging, allowing it to power devices and appliances.

In terms of design, the front of the vehicle sees the most significant changes. It now features a larger grille, sharper headlights, and restyled air intakes.

The Ford Equator 2025 rides on 20-inch five-spoke Cyclone alloy wheels and offers a new exterior color palette “inspired by nature”. At the rear, the LED taillights are now thinner but stretch across the width of the vehicle, along with the Equator lettering.

Inside, the Ford Equator 2025 retains the previous generation’s dual-screen digital cockpit with 12.3-inch displays. However, it now features redesigned front seats, with the second row offering individual seats and the third row a traditional bench. Buyers can choose between dark or light interior themes, including Dinamica suede upholstery with wood trim accents.

The Ford Equator 2025 is set to make its public debut at the 2024 Guangzhou International Auto Show on November 15, 2025.
