According to some sources, the next-generation Porsche Cayenne will offer three engine options: gasoline, electric, and hybrid.

Specifically, the electric version of the Cayenne, expected to launch in 2026, will be built on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) platform, shared with the electric Macan and upcoming Audi models. Meanwhile, the gasoline and hybrid versions will be evolved from the existing platform.

Back in July, the German automaker affirmed that the new-generation Cayenne (the fourth generation) would be electric-only. They planned to continue offering gasoline versions of the third-generation Cayenne alongside the new model.

However, the current sales performance has not met expectations, forcing Porsche to adjust its business strategy.

Porsche has already commenced testing for the fourth-generation Cayenne, and prototypes have been spotted undergoing road trials. The automaker stated that before the new Cayenne is unveiled, it will undergo millions of global test miles.
