A-segment car sales table for October 2024 (unit: cars)
Hyundai Grand i10: 753 units
Despite the decline in popularity of the A-segment in Vietnam, the Hyundai Grand i10 has maintained strong sales. In October, Hyundai sold 753 units of the Grand i10, a growth of 34.2%. With this result, the Grand i10 leads the A-segment and is also Hyundai’s fourth best-selling model in the Vietnamese market.
Hyundai Grand i10
In June 2024, Hyundai introduced an upgraded version of the Grand i10 with improved exterior design and features, while maintaining the same price range of VND 360 – 455 million.
The Korean model now includes new features such as LED daytime running lights, 15-inch alloy wheels, LED taillights, and side mirrors with turn signal indicators. It also boasts an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a Vietnam-specific navigation system, push-button start, and smart key.
Under the hood, the Hyundai Grand i10 is powered by a 1.2L Kappa gasoline engine that delivers 83 hp and 114 Nm of torque, paired with a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission.
Toyota Wigo: 200 units
The Toyota Wigo maintained its second position in the A-segment, with sales of 200 units in October, representing a growth of 9.2% from the previous month.
Toyota Wigo
The Toyota Wigo is currently offered in two variants in Vietnam, with prices ranging from VND 360 – 405 million. As it is imported from Indonesia, the Wigo is not eligible for the government’s 50% reduction in registration fee offered between September and November 2024, unlike its segment rivals. This puts the Toyota model at a significant disadvantage.
However, the Wigo boasts competitive features, including LED headlights, electrically adjustable and foldable side mirrors, 14-inch alloy wheels, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a four-speaker audio system. Notably, it also offers advanced safety features rarely seen in this segment, such as the Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RCTA) systems.
The Toyota Wigo is equipped with a new 1.2L gasoline engine, paired with either a 5-speed manual or a continuously variable transmission (CVT). This engine produces 87 hp and 113 Nm of torque.
Kia Morning: 86 units
The Kia Morning also experienced positive growth in October, with sales of 86 units, representing a significant increase of 38.7%. However, its actual sales figures remain modest, placing it last in the segment.
Kia Morning
The Kia Morning is priced competitively in Vietnam, ranging from VND 349 – 424 million for its five variants. Additionally, it qualifies for the government’s 50% reduction in registration fees.
Its weaknesses lie in the absence of LED headlights and cruise control. Moreover, the Morning’s design and features have remained largely unchanged, making it less appealing compared to its rivals.
Notable features of the Kia Morning include LED daytime running lights, LED taillights, electrically adjustable and foldable side mirrors with turn signal indicators, 14-inch or 15-inch wheels, an analog instrument cluster with a multi-information display, leather seats, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a six-speaker audio system, and automatic climate control.
The Kia Morning is powered by a 1.25L Kappa gasoline engine that produces 83 hp and 120 Nm of torque. It is paired with a 4-speed automatic or a 5-speed manual transmission.

September 2024 Entry-Level Car Sales: No Registration Fee Discounts, Toyota Wigo Takes a Hit
The Toyota Wigo faces a unique challenge in its segment, as it is not eligible for the 50% reduction in registration fees offered by the government. This puts the Wigo at a disadvantage when compared to its competitors. However, despite this challenge, the Wigo has much to offer and stands out with its own unique strengths and features.
