Toyota has unveiled the final iteration of the current-generation GR Supra (code J29) before it bows out of production. The GR Supra A90 Final Edition will be limited to 300 units for Japan and Europe, boasting enhancements that include a more powerful engine, KW suspension, and aggressive carbon fiber aerodynamic components and brakes.
The Current Toyota GR Supra
Starting with performance upgrades, the A90 Final Edition is fitted with a tuned-up version of the 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six engine supplied by BMW, producing 320 kW/435 PS, or 429 horsepower, and a peak torque of 420 lb-ft (570 Nm). This engine is exclusively mated to a six-speed manual transmission, sending power to the rear wheels.
These figures represent a significant increase of 94 horsepower and 70 Nm over the standard GR Supra, achieved through improvements to the intake system, low-pressure reverse catalyst, and optimized engine control unit.
Toyota’s engineers have also added an engine oil cooler to prevent oil temperature buildup during track use, enhanced cooling capabilities, and upgraded the active differential on the rear axle. Lastly, an Akrapovic titanium exhaust system provides an impressive aural upgrade.
The additional power is complemented by a sharper chassis setup inspired by the GR Supra GT4 race car. Highlights include a KW suspension system with adjustable dampers.
Toyota Gazoo Racing has also reinforced the front and rear stabilizers along with other suspension components, while increasing the wheel camber angles to deliver the best possible handling.
The Toyota GR Supra A90 Final Edition will ride on lightweight 19-inch wheels at the front and 20-inch wheels at the rear, wrapped in wider and stickier Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. Stopping power is provided by Brembo 19-inch brakes with high-friction pads at the front, drilled rotors on all four wheels, and stainless steel braided brake lines.
Visually, while the GR Supra may not adopt the rumored GRMN moniker, the A90 Final Edition has all the bells and whistles you’d expect, including a stunning carbon fiber swan-neck rear wing that also increases downforce.
Other visual highlights include a vented hood, redesigned splitter with a front lip spoiler, and a faux rear diffuser effect on the dual exhaust tips.
Inside, you’ll find a pair of Recaro Podium CF carbon fiber seats upholstered in Alcantara. The driver’s seat is accented in red, matching the center console, seatbelts, and driver’s side door trim.
In contrast, the passenger seat and the rest of the interior are finished in black with Alcantara and carbon fiber accents throughout.
