Few automotive manufacturers can create limited-edition vehicles like Lamborghini, and over the years, the brand has consistently transformed its ‘regular’ supercars into special, limited-edition models with price tags in the millions.
In the case of the Centenario, it is based on the Aventador and was launched to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Ferruccio Lamborghini’s birth. Only 20 Coupe and 20 Roadster versions were crafted.
This pristine Centenario Roadster was originally sold new in Japan and has been part of a private collection in Tokyo ever since. It has barely been driven, covering only 163 km, and remains in pristine condition. It will go under the hammer this weekend and is expected to fetch between $1.7 and $2.3 million.
The exterior is finished in a glossy white, contrasted by bright blue accents on the front splitter, side skirts, and intricate rear diffuser. Several exposed matte carbon fiber components are also on display, including the wheels and much of the rear end.
The stunning configuration continues into the cabin, where black leather and Alcantara abound, accented by bright blue details and some white elements.
Like the Aventador, the Centenario Roadster is powered by a naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V12 engine, albeit with some tweaks to boost output to 759 horsepower.
When new, the Centenario started at around $2 million in the US, but in the years following its launch, asking prices for used examples have increased significantly, peaking at a $5.5 million asking price for a red Centenario Roadster.
Prices appear to have cooled off since then, and in February of this year, RM Sotheby’s sold a low-mileage Coupe for $2.14 million in Dubai.
