Suzuki Joins the Year-End Sales Race with Attractive Offers on the XL7 and Jimny
Suzuki is joining the year-end sales race by offering attractive promotions on its duo of passenger vehicles, the XL7 and Jimny. During December, the company is providing a 50% road tax subsidy, equivalent to VND 30 million, for the XL7. Additionally, the car comes with accessory gifts, including a rear spoiler and rain guards.
For the Suzuki Jimny, customers can choose one of two gift options, both valued at VND 35 million. The first option is 0% interest for 12 months, while the second option is a travel voucher for a trip to Japan.
All the above gifts can be redeemed for cash (excluding XL7 accessories). The XL7 accessory gift is applicable simultaneously with other promotional programs and is distributed based on the first-come, first-served principle (according to the vehicle invoice date). The program may end earlier if the gifts run out. Customers are entitled to free installation and painting of the rear spoiler.
With the Suzuki Jimny, customers can choose one of the two gift options or redeem them for cash. Moreover, the promotional value will be calculated based on an interest rate of 7.49%/year for commercial vehicles and 6.49%/year for passenger cars. The Japan travel voucher for the Jimny is valid from December 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025.
Suzuki is offering hefty discounts on this duo of cars for the last month of 2024.
The Suzuki brand in Vietnam currently has only two passenger car models, the XL7 and Jimny. Previously, Suzuki also discontinued sales of several models in Vietnam, including the Ertiga and Ciaz. The Suzuki Swift, which quietly disappeared from the brand’s product lineup, is expected to make a comeback soon.
After the disappearance of the Ertiga, the XL7 has become Suzuki’s flagship product. In October 2024, this model sold 308 units, a growth of 9.21%. Cumulatively, from the beginning of 2024 until now, 2,403 units have been sold, which is not a very high number in the MPV segment in Vietnam.
Meanwhile, the Suzuki Jimny has a much more modest sales performance. In October 2024, only 33 units of this model were sold, landing it in the top 10 slowest-selling cars in the market. The cumulative sales since its launch in Vietnam are 352 units. However, the low sales of the Suzuki Jimny are not unexpected, as this model has a relatively high price, starting at VND 789 million. Additionally, the Suzuki Jimny is imported directly from Japan to Vietnam in limited quantities.
According to Suzuki’s representative at the VMS 2024 exhibition held in October, the company is planning to reintroduce the Swift model to the Vietnamese market, but as a fully imported vehicle from Japan instead of Thailand. This change is due to the upcoming closure of the Suzuki factory in Thailand next year. Consequently, the import tax may cause a significant increase in the selling price of the Suzuki Swift in Vietnam. Additionally, Suzuki intends to introduce a small SUV model in the Vietnamese market in the future, but the name has not yet been revealed.
