Honda Unveils the Prelude Concept at the 2024 Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show
The Honda Prelude Concept made its debut at the 2024 Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show in Malaysia, marking its first appearance in a Southeast Asian country other than Japan since its global reveal in 2023. This suggests that the vehicle may soon be introduced to the Southeast Asian market.
The Honda Prelude Concept boasts a sleek and modern design with its red exterior. It has dimensions of 4,300 mm in length, 1,790 mm in width, and 1,300 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,575 mm. These dimensions are similar to those of the Honda GR 86 and Subaru BR-Z, indicating a sporty profile.
The front of the vehicle features sharp headlights seamlessly connected to the LED bar positioned above the number plate. The lower part of the bumper has a black finish with a mesh pattern and a small vertical blue detail, adding a touch of contrast and uniqueness.
The rear of the vehicle is just as impressive, with a full-width LED light bar, a sleek spoiler, and a glossy black bumper.
The Honda Prelude Concept rides on 20-inch multi-spoke black alloy wheels, complemented by high-performance Brembo brakes. Carbon fiber is used for the side mirrors and various exterior details, contributing to weight optimization.
While Honda has not yet revealed the interior or detailed specifications, it is speculated that the Prelude will feature the e:HEV powertrain used in the City, HR-V, Civic, and CR-V models. This system primarily relies on an electric motor, supported by a gasoline engine, which can also directly drive the wheels through a single-speed gearbox. This indicates that the Prelude will likely not offer a manual transmission.
The Honda Prelude Concept is expected to be a preview of the production model slated for mass production in 2025.
