VinFast Launches Electric Car Factory Project in Ha Tinh

The inauguration ceremony of the VinFast Ha Tinh electric vehicle factory was attended by Mr. Tran Hong Ha – Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister; Mr. Nguyen Chi Dung – Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Planning and Investment; Mr. Hoang Trung Dung – Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of Ha Tinh Provincial Party Committee, and other leaders of central and local authorities.

The VinFast Ha Tinh electric vehicle factory project is built on an area of over 36 hectares by VHIZ Ha Tinh (a company operating in the field of industrial infrastructure development under the Vingroup ecosystem) as the investor and long-term lessor to VinFast.

In phase 1, the factory will be invested with 3 main production workshops, including a painting workshop, a body welding workshop, and a vehicle assembly workshop. Other workshops will be shared with the VinFast Hai Phong factory and will be gradually supplemented in the coming years depending on actual needs. The designed capacity in phase 1 is 300,000 vehicles per year, expected to increase to 600,000 vehicles per year in the following phases.

According to the plan, the VinFast Ha Tinh factory will be inaugurated in phase 1 in July 2025, just 8 months after the project launch, setting a new world record in the automotive manufacturing industry. Once operational, the factory will create nearly 6,000 jobs for local workers, which can increase to 15,000 jobs over time, thereby contributing to the local economy and social security.

In the future, VinFast and its partners will continue to develop additional auxiliary industrial factories to supply components and parts for VinFast as well as the market. VinFast and its partners will also have attractive cooperation policies with suppliers to invite investment and set up factories in Ha Tinh, participating in VinFast’s supply chain, thereby contributing to increased localization and promoting the development of Vietnam’s auxiliary industry.

The VinFast Ha Tinh factory will focus on producing two vehicle models, VF 3 and VF 5, with major components such as the chassis, engine, and electronic parts imported from the VinFast Hai Phong factory, while the batteries will be partially supplied by the battery factory within the Vung Ang Economic Zone. Products from the VinFast Ha Tinh electric vehicle factory will be supplied to the domestic market and exported to international markets.

At the same time, it contributes to realizing the vision and mission of VinFast. For Ha Tinh, this project continues to mark a breakthrough in in-depth industrial development, implementing the strategy of green growth and sustainable development in the direction of the Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050; making an important contribution to increasing budget revenues, strengthening the internal resources of Ha Tinh for development investment, creating jobs, and better solving social security issues; along with other key projects, it contributes to making Ha Tinh one of the development poles of the North Central and Central Coastal regions. The provincial leaders, with the highest sense of responsibility and dedication, commit to closely coordinating and accompanying the Group and the Investor to complete the next procedures and implement the investment project as committed.”

The VinFast Ha Tinh factory is the 5th factory serving the electric vehicle production activities of VinFast globally. Currently, in addition to the operating complex of factories in Hai Phong, VinFast is constructing 3 more factories in India, Indonesia, and the US, of which the factories in India and Indonesia are expected to be operational in 2025.
