November 2024 saw a majority of Honda models in the US market experiencing growth in sales. Among them, the most notable was the Honda Prologue, a mid-size electric SUV.

During the month, Honda sold 6,823 units of the Prologue to American consumers, setting a new record for the model.

The Honda Prologue, a competitor of the VinFast VF8, has achieved record sales.

Since its launch in the US market in April 2024, the Honda Prologue has accumulated sales of 25,132 units, an impressive figure for a vehicle still establishing itself in the highly competitive electric SUV segment.

The Prologue is an electric vehicle developed jointly by Honda and General Motors (GM). It is based on GM’s BEV3 platform, shared with the Chevrolet Blazer EV, Acura ZDX, and Cadillac Lyriq. Interestingly, while the Prologue carries the Honda brand, it is manufactured by GM.

Despite sharing the same platform, the Honda Prologue has significantly outsold its cousins, the Chevrolet Blazer EV, and Cadillac Lyriq. In the third quarter of this year, the Honda model sold 12,644 units, compared to 7,998 and 7,224 units for the American EVs, respectively.

The Honda Prologue, equipped with a lithium-ion 85 kWh battery, offers a maximum range of 483 km on a single charge.

Aside from the Prologue, Honda witnessed positive growth in sales for other models such as the Pilot, CR-V, Civic, Odyssey, and HR-V. Notably, the Honda Pilot surged by 38.5% to 12,652 units. The Honda CR-V, Civic, Odyssey, and HR-V also posted impressive growth rates of 9.5%, 9.1%, 12.2%, and 18.3%, respectively. However, the Honda Accord experienced a decline of 19.5% year-over-year and 16.2% compared to October 2024, with 11,671 units sold.

As a result, Honda’s cumulative sales in the US market increased by 15.9% to 110,020 units in November 2024. For the first eleven months of this year, the Japanese brand’s cumulative sales reached 1,168,890 units, an 11.1% rise compared to the same period last year.

Meanwhile, the luxury brand Acura had a less successful November 2024, with sales inching up by only 2.6% to 11,399 units due to weaker performances by the Integra and RDX. The Acura MDX, a luxury SUV, was the lone bright spot with a growth of 6.2%. For the first eleven months of the year, Acura’s sales totaled 119,370 units, reflecting a 10.1% decline compared to the previous year.

Combining the sales of both the Honda and Acura brands, the Japanese automaker sold 121,419 vehicles in November 2024, representing a 10.1% increase year-over-year and a 14.5% jump compared to October 2024. For the first eleven months of this year, the group’s total sales in the US reached 1,288,260 units, an 8.7% improvement over the same period in 2023.

According to Honda, some models from both brands, including the Honda Accord, Acura Integra, and Acura TLX, faced sales declines in November 2024 due to supply chain-related issues. Additionally, the ongoing transformation of the Marysville Auto Plant in Ohio into Honda’s electric vehicle production hub has caused temporary disruptions in production.
