The theft began just before 2 am when the owner of Comodo Motors in Caledonia Township was awakened by an alarm from a motion camera in the parking lot. His security company also called him about a break-in, prompting him to alert the police. The officers responded swiftly and confronted the alleged group of thieves at the dealership.

Upon their arrival, the police found a group of individuals inside five vehicles, including a Dodge Challenger Hellcat Redeye, a Chevrolet Corvette, a Ram 1500 TRX, a Jeep, and another Dodge Challenger. A pursuit ensued, and according to Kent County Deputy Sheriff Bryan Muir, the group acted in coordination.
“The way they were driving, signaling to slow down the police cars, indicated that this was a professional group of thieves who had done this before,” Muir explained. Speeds were said to be in triple digits, and the police lost track of some of the vehicles. Before they all got away, the officers managed to disable the Hellcat Challenger with a special tool.
They arrested a 19-year-old woman but did not disclose any further details about her. Additionally, they later found the Corvette and the Ram TRX abandoned.
The dealership owner stated that repairing the doors and gates would take several weeks and cost thousands of dollars. Moreover, the vehicles involved in the theft also sustained significant damage, resulting in a substantial loss for the dealership, even if they are sold to others later on.
