At a recent seminar on automobile localization, VinFast announced for the first time the localization rate of its electric vehicles.

Accordingly, many critical components that make up the electric car are being produced right at the factory in Hai Phong, with a current localization rate of over 60%.

VinFast allocates over 30% of its complex factory area to develop an auxiliary industrial park, facilitating direct participation of enterprises in the supply chain.

Currently, the VinFast factory houses workshops for pressing, welding, assembly, engines, and more, all installed on modern, world-class production lines from Germany, Austria, South Korea, and others.

Experts predict that by 2026, VinFast’s localization rate could reach 84%, as per the company’s announcement.

It is known that VinFast has established a clear roadmap to increase the localization rate from over 60% today to 84% by 2026 by producing and supplying additional domestic components such as car seats, wiring harnesses, lights, rims, braking and steering systems, interior and exterior trim, mirrors, and more. Notably, VinFast also plans to produce electric vehicle batteries to further enhance localization.

Moving forward, VinFast will implement a series of specific solutions. First, they will coordinate with existing partners and leverage the network of auxiliary enterprises to optimize domestic supply and reduce import dependence.

Second, they will pursue technology transfer collaborations with the goal of bringing advanced technology to Vietnam, thereby enhancing production capacity and improving the quality of domestic products.

Third, the Vietnamese automaker will seek investment and cooperation for mutual development, creating an attractive environment to draw capital and expertise from both domestic and foreign sources to build a robust local supply chain.

GS-TS Le Anh Tuan, Chairman of the Hanoi University of Technology, stated that VinFast is taking a leading role, not only in manufacturing but also in building a local supply chain. The presence of multiple suppliers demonstrates this. The localization roadmap is a strategic step forward, not just for VinFast but for the entire automotive industry.
