The all-new Mazda EZ-6 has taken the market by storm, quickly rising to the top of sales charts just a month after its launch. This impressive performance has prompted the automaker to boost production to meet the surging demand for this electric sedan.

Since its debut on October 26th, the Mazda EZ-6 has captured the attention of consumers. According to Changan Mazda, the joint venture behind the vehicle, the car recorded impressive sales of 2,445 units in its first month. This achievement propelled the EZ-6 to become the third-best-selling model in the joint venture’s mid-size new energy sedan segment in the Chinese market. To keep up with market demand, the company has decided to increase production at its Nanjing plant.

Dubbed the electric version of the iconic Mazda6, the EZ-6 is a product of Mazda and Changan’s collaboration. It boasts larger dimensions than its predecessor, measuring 4,921 x 1,890 x 1,485 mm, compared to the Mazda6’s 4,865 x 1,840 x 1,450 mm. The EZ-6’s design stays true to Mazda’s signature Kodo design language while incorporating subtle tweaks to align with the characteristics of an electric vehicle.

Step inside the EZ-6, and you’ll find a modern cabin that emphasizes comfort and technology. A standout feature is the 14.6-inch touchscreen infotainment display positioned between the dashboard and a digital instrument cluster measuring 10.2 inches. Other notable amenities include 64-color LED interior lighting, a 14-speaker Sony sound system, and gravity-reducing front seats.

In terms of performance, the all-electric variant of the Mazda EZ-6 (BEV) is equipped with a rear-mounted electric motor that delivers 255 horsepower. Customers can choose between two battery options: a 56.1 kWh battery offering a range of 480 kilometers or a more powerful 68.8 kWh battery that provides a substantial 600-kilometer range (according to CLTC standards). The lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery technology enables fast charging, taking just 15 minutes to charge from 30% to 80%.

The EREV (hybrid plug-in) variant, on the other hand, combines a 1.5L JL473QJ gasoline engine with a potent 160 kW electric motor. This setup delivers an all-electric range of 130 kilometers or 200 kilometers, depending on the battery configuration. The total combined range of this variant is an impressive 1,301 kilometers. Charging is equally efficient, taking only 20 minutes to charge from 30% to 80%.

In China, the EZ-6 is offered in seven different versions, with prices ranging from 139,800 to 179,800 CNY (approximately 500 to 640 million VND). Mazda has indicated that the EZ-6 will be a global model, suggesting that this impressive electric sedan may soon make its way to other markets worldwide.
