In a recent survey conducted by the Global EV Alliance, over 23,000 electric vehicle owners from 18 different countries were polled.
The results revealed that a staggering 92% of respondents would never go back to using traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles.
Additionally, 4% would opt for plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV), 1% would return to ICE vehicles, and the remaining 3% were undecided.
A majority of those surveyed plan to stick with electric vehicles from now on. Notably, 45% of respondents found that the running costs of electric vehicles were significantly lower than those of petrol or diesel cars, which was the primary reason for their choice. This was followed by 40% who cited environmental friendliness as their main concern. Furthermore, 33% of participants believed that electric vehicles help protect the local environment, 21% felt that they offered a more secure driving experience, and 18% appreciated the lower maintenance costs.
However, electric vehicles also have their limitations, mainly in terms of charging infrastructure. Respondents expressed frustration with the current state of charging stations, mentioning that fast-charging points often don’t work. This explains why Tesla has a stronghold in the electric vehicle market—the company boasts an extensive network of Supercharge rapid-charging stations.
Those surveyed emphasized the need for continued improvement and expansion of charging infrastructure to meet the growing demands of electric vehicle owners.
