IONIQ 5N showcases Hyundai Motor’s approach to high-performance vehicles with unique touches, offering customers a new perspective on the character of Hyundai cars.

Debuting in July 2023 as the first electric vehicle from the high-performance Hyundai N division, the IONIQ 5 N represents a new segment of high-performance electric vehicles, focusing on the driver through new technologies and upgraded on-track capabilities. It marks the first step in N’s electrification strategy by combining the standard IONIQ 5’s global electric vehicle platform (E-GMP) with N Performance sports car technologies and expertise from the ‘Rolling Lab’ to maximize the high-performance capabilities of EVs.

The IONIQ 5 N is equipped with a large 84kWh battery pack and specially tuned electric motors. Specifically, the front electric motor produces 222 horsepower, while the rear motor generates 378 horsepower. Combined, the car delivers 601 horsepower, but this can increase to 641 horsepower in Boost mode. The car has been hailed in the media as ‘revolutionary’, a ‘game-changer’, and the ‘gold standard’ for high-performance EVs. The IONIQ 5 N also won the 2023 Top Gear Car of the Year award and set a record for the fastest electric SUV lap time at the Nürburgring Nordschleife by Germany’s ‘Sport Auto’.

In early March 2024, the IONIQ 5N was named the High-Performance Car of the Year – World Performance Car Award 2024. “IONIQ 5 N represents a significant milestone for Hyundai N and our electrification strategy,” said Till Wartenberg, Vice President and Head of the N Brand & Motorsport at Hyundai Motor. “By combining our E-GMP platform with N’s motorsport expertise, we’ve created a breakthrough high-performance electric vehicle that sets a new benchmark in the automotive industry.”

The Mandalika International Street Circuit is a new racetrack that hosts a MotoGP race since 2022 and is the first street circuit in the MotoGP system. The 4.3-kilometer Mandalika Circuit features 17 turns, including 11 right turns and 6 left turns. The current lap record is held by Enea Bastianini of the Ducati MotoGP team, who set a time of 1:30.539 in 2024 on his Ducati Desmosedici GP24.

The IONIQ 5N experience event at this exciting racetrack promises to offer unique and thrilling experiences, providing participants with authentic assessments of the car’s performance, especially for a high-performance electric vehicle. As such, the IONIQ 5N will also showcase Hyundai’s new take on sports car spirit and character.

In Vietnam, the IONIQ 5 was introduced in 2022 and officially launched in July 2023. The IONIQ 5 is available in two versions: the Exclusive version with a 58 kWh battery, 170 PS power, and a range of 384 km/charge according to WLTP standards. The Prestige version features a 217 PS motor, a 72.6 kWh battery, and a range of 451 km/charge under WLTP standards.

The IONIQ 5 boasts a futuristic design, a stark departure from Hyundai’s current internal combustion engine models. “IONIQ 5 is a design statement that offers an optimistic view of what the future of electric mobility can look like,” said Sang Yup Lee, Vice President of Hyundai Motor.

The IONIQ 5 targets customers who want to experience the technology of the future with smart conveniences and award-winning manufacturing expertise, as evidenced by the prestigious World Car of the Year – World Car Of The Year (WCOTY) 2024 award.

When purchasing the IONIQ 5, customers receive a complimentary 2.2 kW mobile charger and an ABB-provided 7.7 kW AC home charging solution, a leader in power and automation technologies. Currently, the IONIQ 5 charging station network spans nationwide, available at 100% of Hyundai dealerships. Moving forward, HTV will add more high-power charging stations to increase density and meet customer demands, making electric vehicle operation in Vietnam more accessible and convenient.
