GAC Aion’s Future Plans: Unveiling New Models and Expanding Horizons
In a recent interview, Gu Huinan, the General Manager of GAC Aion, announced the upcoming launch of two new vehicles at the Guangzhou Auto Show. According to *CarnewsChina*, these new models will be named the Aion UT and the Hyptec HL.
The Aion UT is a compact hatchback, previously known by its internal code AY2. *CarnewsChina* suggests that this vehicle has been designed with the international market in mind and may go on sale in Europe as early as 2025. The UT features a minimalist front design with headlights integrated into the hood and a cross-hatched grille pattern on the front bumper, complemented by square fog lights with a plus-sign design.

The rear of the UT showcases a cohesive design language with hook-shaped taillights that echo the front end’s styling, along with horizontal signal lights positioned near the rear bumper. According to sources, the UT will have similar dimensions to the BYD Dolphin and will feature a panoramic sunroof and hidden door handles. While exact specifications about its engine and powertrain are not yet available, the UT is sure to make a splash in the market.
Turning our attention to the more enigmatic Hyptec HL, details about this model are currently scarce, with only its internal code “AH8” to go by. *CarnewsChina* speculates that it could be a mid-size SUV with a 2+2 configuration, similar to the Li L8. However, leaked images suggest that a six-seater option may also be offered.

The Hyptec HL is a collaborative effort between GAC and Huawei, although GAC has since announced that another investor has joined the project. The interior of the HL is expected to mirror that of the Hyptec HT, featuring a floating infotainment screen and a uniquely shaped steering wheel. Details about its powertrain and release date remain tightly under wraps.
GAC Aion has previously announced its plans to enter the Vietnamese market with three models: the Aion ES sedan, the Y Plus, and the high-performance Hyptec HT SUV. With their upcoming launches and expanding dealer network, the Aion UT and Hyptec HL could be well-positioned to cater to the Vietnamese market in terms of size and configuration.
GAC Aion is committed to its expansion strategy, aiming for 30 dealerships by 2025 and an impressive 50 dealerships by the end of 2026.
