The Vietnamese automotive market is heading towards its final months of 2024, and the sales race is heating up. Currently, the top-selling models include the Mitsubishi Xpander (12,956 units sold), Ford Ranger (11,766), Mitsubishi Xforce (9,963), Mazda CX-5 (9,240), and Toyota Vios (8,812).
Among these, the Mitsubishi Xforce, launched in March, has quickly accumulated nearly 10,000 sales in just seven months. It’s safe to say that when the October sales figures are released, this Mitsubishi newcomer will have surpassed the 10,000-unit milestone.
**The ‘Rookie’ Performance**
The Mitsubishi Xforce, introduced in early January and delivered to Vietnamese customers from March onwards, has consistently led the B-segment SUV category. It has outperformed well-known competitors in Vietnam, including the Toyota Corolla Cross, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and another new entrant, the Toyota Yaris Cross.
With a starting price of VND 620-699 million for the first three versions, now adjusted to VND 599-680 million, the Xforce offers a range of options. The recently announced Ultimate version is priced at VND 705 million, offering a host of features and technologies.
**Waiting for the Mitsubishi Xforce to Surprise**
The Mitsubishi Xforce competes in one of the hottest segments of the Vietnamese auto market, with a total of eight models in the running. There are also several new entrants and models that don’t disclose sales figures, such as the MG ZS, Nissan Kicks, BYD Atto 3, VinFast VF 6, MG4 EV, Subaru Crosstrek, and Peugeot 2008.
Among those that do disclose sales figures, the Mitsubishi Xforce (9,963 units in nine months) and the Toyota Yaris Cross (6,898 units) are the top sellers. The Xforce’s performance is impressive, placing it among the top three best-selling vehicles in Vietnam.
With a gap of nearly 3,000 units to the leader and three months left in the race, the Xforce still has a chance to compete for the top spot. If it can maintain sales around the 2,000-unit mark, as seen in recent reports, it could end 2024 as one of the top two best-selling vehicles.
Moreover, if it outperforms expectations and its rivals stumble, the Mitsubishi Xforce could even become the sales champion in its debut year, a true “super rookie” achievement.
**Diverse Appeal and Features**
The Mitsubishi Xforce’s strength lies in its diverse range of versions and price points (VND 599-705 million), attracting a wide range of customers with different needs. The SUV is packed with technology and features, including driving modes tailored for Vietnamese road conditions. The Ultimate version stands out with its advanced Mitsubishi Motors Safety Sensing (MMSS) system.
