The new Mazda BT-50 has been creating a buzz since its global debut in Australia, and now, it’s finally making its way to Thailand. Mark your calendars for November 28 as the official launch date, as confirmed by the Mazda Thailand fan page.

Based on the images shared on social media, the Thai-spec Mazda BT-50 will be a facelifted version of the mid-size pickup truck, boasting a large logo on its grille and sleek headlights reminiscent of the Mazda CX-5. The wheel design has been updated, while the rear end remains largely unchanged.

Step inside, and you’ll find a modern cabin with a 9-inch touchscreen display that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Most controls have been streamlined into the touchscreen interface, except for the physical knobs for volume and radio adjustment.

Under the hood, the Mazda BT-50 is expected to retain its 1.9-liter turbodiesel engine, delivering 148 horsepower. Additionally, a more powerful 3.0-liter turbodiesel option will be available, generating an impressive 187 horsepower.

Thailand is expected to be followed by Vietnam as the next Southeast Asian market to introduce the facelifted Mazda BT-50. The mid-size pickup truck has been absent from Mazda’s vehicle lineup in Vietnam due to lackluster sales, with only five units sold in the first month and consecutive zero sales figures in subsequent reports.

The launch of the updated model could be a strategic move to revive the BT-50’s presence in the Vietnamese market. Similarly, the Toyota Hilux, a rival in the segment, experienced consecutive months of zero sales before the introduction of its upgraded version in May.

If the Mazda BT-50 facelift arrives in Vietnam soon, it will join the ranks of the Toyota Hilux, Nissan Navara, Mitsubishi Triton, and Isuzu D-Max as the fifth Japanese pickup truck to receive an upgrade this year. The Vietnamese market is currently dominated by the Ford Ranger, which accounted for nearly 77% of the segment’s total sales in the first ten months, selling 13,647 units.
