According to recent findings by Confused, several automotive brands have achieved perfect safety ratings based on NCAP tests over the last decade.

The results reveal that all new models introduced in the past ten years by brands such as Volvo, Subaru, Tesla, Genesis, and Polestar have been awarded five-star safety ratings by NCAP.

Specifically, in the last ten years, Volvo has launched 76 cars, all of which received five stars; Subaru (72 cars), Tesla (45 cars), Genesis (15 cars), and Polestar (3 cars) followed suit.

Other prominent automakers have also demonstrated impressive safety rankings, including Honda (105 out of 111 cars with five stars, achieving 94.59%), Mazda (51/55, 92.73%), BMW (84/92, 91.3%), Lexus (90/105, 85.71%), Mercedes-Benz (28/34, 82.35%), Toyota (148/194, 76.29%), Hyundai (72/101, 71.29%), Kia (66/96, 68.75%), and Ford (152/256, 59.38%).

On the other hand, brands like Mini, Fiat, Smart, and Suzuki did not have any five-star-rated vehicles in the last decade.

The Confused study also highlights that the newest cars produced (in 2024) have shown significant improvements in quality. Vehicles launched in the past year have the highest-ever rate of five-star safety ratings.

Despite being safer, newer models have received a significant number of complaints and dissatisfaction from customers.

For instance, Jeep had 1,487 complaints per vehicle. Brands like Dodge, Chrysler, and Ram also experienced high complaint rates, with hundreds of cases per vehicle.

Volvo and Genesis stood out as the brands with the fewest complaints, averaging only 47.20 complaints per launched vehicle.

While these vehicles are considered safe, customers often encounter technical issues, assembly quality problems, or ineffective ADAS systems. These faults can still lead to hazardous situations on the road.
