The Nissan-Dongfeng joint venture has unveiled its all-new pickup truck, the Z9. According to Bitauto, Dongfeng will start taking orders for this model in February and officially launch it at dealerships in March.
The Nissan Dongfeng Z9 has an overall length of 5,520 mm, a width of 1,960 mm, a height of 1,950 mm, and a wheelbase of 3,300 mm. This pickup truck features a new design language with a unique Z-shaped headlight cluster, a grille with a fox-eye pattern, and a full-length LED daytime running light strip across the front.
The interior of the Z9 features a two-spoke steering wheel with silver control buttons and a small digital instrument cluster. A large infotainment screen takes center stage on the dashboard, integrating most of the vehicle’s control functions. However, physical buttons are retained for climate control adjustments.
The Z9 currently offers two engine options: a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine producing 258 horsepower and a 2.3-liter turbodiesel engine generating 190 horsepower. Both engines are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Additionally, Nissan Dongfeng is developing a hybrid version of this pickup truck to compete with the BYD Shark. While many details are yet to be revealed, this hybrid variant is expected to deliver 435 horsepower and 800 Nm of torque, with a claimed range of 1,100 km on the NEDC cycle.
