B-segment SUV Sales Table for December 2024 (units: vehicles)

Toyota Yaris Cross: 1,578 units

December 2024 was a highly successful month for the Toyota Yaris Cross, with sales reaching 1,578 units, representing a remarkable 32.8% growth rate. With these results, the Yaris Cross surpassed the Vios as Toyota’s best-selling model.

Toyota Yaris Cross

Throughout 2024, Vietnamese customers purchased 11,174 units of the Toyota Yaris Cross, ranking it second in the B-segment SUV market. It was also one of the best-selling vehicles in the overall Vietnamese market last year.

The Toyota Yaris Cross is currently offered in Vietnam with two versions, priced between VND 650-765 million. In addition to its affordable price, the model’s appeal lies in its eye-catching design and rich standard equipment.

The most significant difference between the two versions lies in their engines. The gasoline-powered version features a 1.5L 4-cylinder engine that delivers 105 horsepower and 138 Nm of torque, paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). On the other hand, the hybrid version utilizes a 1.5L 4-cylinder gasoline engine producing 90 horsepower, combined with a 79 horsepower electric motor and a lithium-ion battery.

Mitsubishi Xforce: 1,140 units

In contrast to its rival, the Toyota Yaris Cross, the Mitsubishi Xforce experienced a decline in sales to 1,140 units in December 2024. Compared to the previous month, this represents a decrease of 37.4%. As a result, the Mitsubishi Xforce slipped to second place in the B-segment SUV market, behind the Toyota Yaris Cross.

However, when considering the cumulative sales for the entire year of 2024, the Mitsubishi Xforce leads the segment. Specifically, Vietnamese customers purchased a total of 14,407 units of the Xforce last year. This figure is even more impressive considering that the vehicle was only introduced to the Vietnamese market in March 2024.

Mitsubishi Xforce

The Xforce is currently the second best-selling model of the Mitsubishi brand, only surpassed by the Xpander. When considering the overall market, it ranks as the fourth best-selling gasoline and diesel vehicle for the previous year.

The Mitsubishi Xforce’s advantage lies in its competitive pricing, ranging from VND 599-705 million for four different versions, along with its attractive design, diverse convenience features, and safety equipment. At the heart of this model is a 1.5L 4-cylinder gasoline engine that generates 105 horsepower and 141 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) and front-wheel drive. The vehicle offers four driving modes: Normal, Gravel, Mud, and Slippery Road, available in the higher-end versions.

Toyota Corolla Cross: 1,015 units

The Toyota Corolla Cross ranked third in the B-segment SUV market in terms of sales for December. With 1,015 units sold, it experienced an 11.7% decline. This brings the cumulative sales for 2024 to 7,644 units, placing it fourth in the segment, after the Mitsubishi Xforce, Toyota Yaris Cross, and Hyundai Creta.

Toyota Corolla Cross

The Toyota Corolla Cross received an upgraded version in May 2024. It is currently offered in two versions, with prices ranging from VND 820-905 million.

The upgraded version features minor design improvements and additional convenience features, while the engine remains unchanged. The first option is a 1.8L 4-cylinder engine that produces 140 horsepower and 172 Nm of torque, paired with a CVT-i transmission. The second option is a hybrid powertrain, consisting of a 1.8L 4-cylinder gasoline engine that delivers 97 horsepower and 142 Nm of torque, combined with an e-CVT transmission and an electric motor that generates 72 horsepower and 163 Nm of torque.

Honda HR-V: 964 units

The Honda HR-V achieved the highest growth rate among B-segment SUVs in December. With sales of 964 units, it experienced a remarkable 66.7% increase. As a result, the Honda HR-V re-entered the top 10 best-selling vehicles in the overall Vietnamese market for December 2024. The cumulative sales for 2024 reached 6,230 units, placing it sixth in the B-segment SUV segment.

Honda HR-V

Similar to other Honda models, the HR-V is priced higher in its segment, ranging from VND 699-871 million. However, it boasts an attractive exterior design and adequate convenience features. Unlike its competitors, the HR-V is equipped with advanced active safety features as standard.

Under the hood, the Honda HR-V offers two engine options. The first is a 1.5L 4-cylinder naturally aspirated gasoline engine that delivers 119 horsepower and 145 Nm of torque. The second option is a 1.5L turbocharged gasoline engine that produces 174 horsepower and 240 Nm of torque.

Hyundai Creta: 901 units

The rise of its competitors pushed the Hyundai Creta down to fourth place in the B-segment SUV market. In December 2024, Hyundai sold 901 units of the Creta, representing a 32.3% decrease. However, the cumulative sales for 2024 reached 8,640 units, ranking it third in the segment.

Hyundai Creta

The Hyundai Creta stands out with its attractive pricing, starting from VND 599-699 million. Additionally, it offers a combination of youthful and dynamic exterior design, along with a full range of convenience and safety features.

The Hyundai Creta is powered by a SmartStream 1.5L gasoline engine that delivers 115 horsepower and 144 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with an intelligent continuously variable transmission (iVT) and front-wheel drive.

Kia Seltos: 549 units

Closely following the Hyundai Creta is its sibling from the same corporation, the Kia Seltos. With 549 units sold, it experienced a 54.7% decline in sales. The cumulative sales for 2024 reached 6,829 units, ranking it fifth in the B-segment SUV segment.

Kia Seltos

The Kia Seltos received an upgraded version in mid-2024, with prices ranging from VND 599-839 million. As a result, the model is relatively expensive in its segment, reducing its appeal to some extent.

The Kia Seltos offers two engine options to Vietnamese customers. The first is a Smartstream 1.5L 4-cylinder naturally aspirated gasoline engine that produces 113 horsepower and 144 Nm of torque, paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). The second option is a Smartstream 1.5L 4-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine that delivers 158 horsepower and 253 Nm of torque, combined with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT).

Mazda CX-3: 470 units

Contrary to the trends of its competitors, the Mazda CX-3 experienced a positive month in terms of sales. With 470 units sold, it achieved a growth rate of 41.9%. The cumulative sales for 2024 reached 2,745 units, ranking it seventh in the B-segment SUV segment.

Mazda CX-3

The Mazda CX-3 is currently one of the most affordable B-segment SUVs in the market, with prices starting from VND 512-631 million. Despite its attractive pricing, eye-catching design, and advanced safety features, the CX-3 has not achieved significant sales in Vietnam due to its cramped interior space.

The Mazda CX-3 is powered by a SkyActiv-G 1.5L gasoline engine that delivers 110 horsepower and 144 Nm of torque. It is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission with Sport mode and front-wheel drive.

Mazda CX-30: 232 units

The Mazda CX-30 ranked last in the B-segment SUV market in terms of sales for both December and the entire year of 2024. With 232 units sold in December, it achieved a growth rate of 15.4%. However, its annual sales for 2024 stood at only 1,715 units, a modest performance within the segment.

Mazda CX-30

Compared to its sibling, the CX-3, the Mazda CX-30 is priced higher, ranging from VND 699-749 million. The higher price tag brings with it a more attractive design, spacious interior, richer convenience and safety features, and a more powerful engine.

Under the hood of the Mazda CX-30 lies a 2.0L SkyActiv-G naturally aspirated gasoline engine that generates 153 horsepower and 200 Nm of torque. It is paired with front-wheel drive and a 6-speed automatic transmission.
