Skoda’s upcoming plant in Vietnam is scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2025.
The plant, currently under construction in the Viet Hung Industrial Zone (Quang Ninh province), boasts a total investment of $500 million and spans an area of 36.5 hectares. It is expected to have an annual capacity of 120,000 vehicles.
This will be the first Skoda production facility in Southeast Asia. The Quang Ninh plant will utilize technology inherited from Skoda’s Mlada Boleslav plant in the Czech Republic, ensuring that the vehicles assembled and manufactured here maintain the same quality as those imported from Europe.
Initially, the plant will assemble two models: the Kushaq, a CUV in the B-segment, and the Slavia, a B-segment sedan. Subsequently, the all-electric Skoda Enyaq iV is expected to join the lineup.
Skoda, a venerable brand founded in 1925 in the Czech Republic, became a state-owned enterprise in 1948. Since 1991, it has been gradually privatized through the sale of shares to Volkswagen. Skoda officially became a part of the Volkswagen Group in 2000.
Today, the Skoda auto brand has a presence in over 100 countries and is particularly popular in several European markets, including Austria, Switzerland, and the Czech Republic. In Asia, Skoda has also established a strong foothold in the Indian market.
In 2023, Skoda launched two models in Vietnam: the Kodiaq and Karoq. The company is now preparing to introduce a new version of the Kodiaq to the Vietnamese market.
