The all-new Skoda Kodiaq made its debut in Vietnam at the VMS 2024 exhibition in October last year. In January 2025, Skoda announced that it was taking reservations for this D-segment SUV in the Vietnamese market.

The 2025 Skoda Kodiaq is expected to be officially released in Vietnam after the Tet holiday. The specific selling price of this D-segment SUV has not been announced yet. However, dealers said that the highest-end version of the 2025 Skoda Kodiaq in Vietnam is expected to cost about 1.6 billion VND, an increase of nearly 200 million VND compared to the previous generation.

According to information released by Skoda on its homepage, the new Kodiaq will have two versions: Premium 4×4 2.0 TSI and Sportline 4×4 2.0 TSI. True to its name, this D-segment SUV in Vietnam will only have one engine option: a 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol engine, carried over from the previous generation.

In the new generation, the above-mentioned engine delivers a maximum output of 190 horsepower and a peak torque of 320 Nm. Compared to the old version, this engine is 10 horsepower more powerful. The power is transmitted to the wheels via a 7-speed wet dual-clutch automatic transmission and a 4-wheel drive system.

In addition to a more powerful engine, the 2025 Skoda Kodiaq also features new designs and equipment. The exterior design of the car has been evolved with new details such as headlights, taillights, front and rear bumpers, and alloy wheels.

The highlight of this D-segment SUV lies in its new LED matrix headlights, which now feature 36 modules, an increase from the previous version. These headlights are designed with intricate crystals, giving the car a more premium look. Similar to the previous generation, the front light cluster is also divided into two tiers. Alongside is a wider grille with vertically-placed slats illuminated by a thin LED strip.

Compared to the standard Premium 4×4 2.0 TSI version, the Sportline 4×4 2.0 TSI stands out with its sportier exterior thanks to black details such as the grille, mirror caps, roof rails, and pillar D. The front and rear bumpers, as well as the alloy wheels, also feature distinct designs that set it apart from the standard version.

Inside the 2025 Skoda Kodiaq is a more spacious interior thanks to its dimensions of 4,758 x 1,864 x 1,657 mm in length, width, and height, respectively, and a wheelbase of 2,791 mm. Compared to the previous generation, the new Kodiaq is 61 mm longer, 18 mm narrower, and 24 mm lower, while the wheelbase remains unchanged. The luggage compartment offers a capacity of 340 liters or 845 liters with the rear seats folded down.

Not only is it more spacious, but the interior is also more comfortable and modern, featuring equipment such as a 10-inch Virtual Cockpit digital dashboard, a 13-inch central touchscreen, a Canton 14-speaker sound system, and a panoramic sunroof.

Behind the steering wheel is a new electronic gear selector, freeing up space in the central control cluster and providing a more spacious storage area. Additionally, smart rotary knobs with integrated screens are included for adjusting temperature, volume, fan speed, or driving mode.

Other notable features of the car include a new storage compartment for rear passengers, a cooled compartment for wireless phone charging, a flexible luggage compartment, and a driver’s side door with a compartment for an umbrella.

The previous generation of the Skoda Kodiaq is currently priced from 1.189 to 1.409 billion VND. The unattractive price, coupled with the unfamiliar brand name, is the biggest obstacle for this car to conquer the Vietnamese market. With the new generation expected to be priced higher than its predecessor, its ability to persuade Vietnamese customers will likely be even more challenging.

In Vietnam, the 2025 Skoda Kodiaq will continue to compete against rivals such as the Hyundai Santa Fe, Kia Sorento, Mazda CX-8, and Peugeot 5008.
