Hyundai’s 3 and 4-wheel electric tuk-tuk concepts promise ideal urban mobility with their enhanced practicality, while still adhering to green and clean criteria.
At the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 in India, Hyundai Motor Company unveiled its vision for the future of transportation in the country by introducing two advanced electric vehicle concepts: a three-wheeler and a compact four-wheeler. These vehicles were developed in collaboration with TVS, a leading motorcycle and tuk-tuk manufacturer in India. Hyundai took charge of the design, engineering, and technology, while TVS handled production and marketing, leveraging its deep understanding of the Indian market. The company’s vision for these concepts aligns with its global mission of “Progress for Humanity.”
The Hyundai E3W, a three-wheeled electric concept, is an upgraded version of the iconic Indian auto-rickshaw. It features a modern design with a sloped windshield and wipers for improved visibility. The seats can be folded flat, providing more cargo space. The vehicle is equipped with large tires for navigating rough terrain and a towing hook for emergency recovery. Its electric powertrain allows for a flat floor, creating a more spacious interior. One notable feature of the E3W is its adjustable ride height, which aids in safe wading through flooded areas.
The second notable concept is the Hyundai E4W, a more compact version of the tuk-tuk. It differs from the E3W in terms of size and wheel design. Additionally, the E4W features a car-like steering wheel instead of handlebars.
Currently, both concepts are in their early stages, and Hyundai has not yet entered into a formal agreement with TVS for commercial production.
