Volkswagen Unveils the New Teramont Pro: An Upgraded Large SUV for the Chinese Market

Volkswagen has revealed the new Teramont Pro for the Chinese market, marking a significant upgrade to their large SUV offering. Recently spotted in a factory in China, the Teramont Pro is expected to be launched officially in the early part of this year.

Developed by the Volkswagen-SAIC joint venture, the Teramont Pro boasts impressive dimensions: 5,158mm in length, 1,991mm in width, and 1,788mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,980mm. This new model is 61mm longer than its predecessor.

The design of the 2025 Volkswagen Teramont Pro has been significantly enhanced, showcasing a modern and sleek look. The standard version features a narrow grille, a trapezoidal central air intake with a silver surround, and large two-tier headlights paired with vertical air intakes for a bold front fascia. The Volkswagen logo sits proudly in the center, divided into two halves: the upper half is transparent and houses the LED daytime running lights, while the lower half is gloss black.

At the rear, the Teramont Pro sports horizontal taillights positioned above a black trim piece, with the Volkswagen logo integrated into the center. The rear bumper incorporates a full-width light bar and a black diffuser-like element with silver accents for a sporty touch.

The higher-end version of the Teramont Pro embraces a sportier aesthetic, evident in its larger grille and honeycomb-patterned central air intake. The Volkswagen logo, both at the front and rear, is illuminated with hidden LED lighting.

While interior images have not been released, spy shots of the test vehicles indicate a simple yet robust design. The dashboard features a prominent digital instrument cluster and a large central touchscreen. The center console shares a similar layout with the Volkswagen Tiguan L Pro, including a rotary knob for volume control, driving mode selection, and climate control functions, accompanied by a small screen.

Under the hood, the Volkswagen Teramont Pro is equipped with a hybrid powertrain, combining the fifth-generation EA888 2.0L turbocharged gasoline engine with a four-wheel-drive system. This setup generates an impressive 271 horsepower and enables the SUV to reach a top speed of 200 km/h. While Volkswagen has not disclosed fuel efficiency figures, the Teramont Pro is expected to offer improved fuel economy over its predecessor thanks to its hybrid system.

Following its launch in China, the Volkswagen Teramont Pro may make its way to the Vietnamese market. The current Teramont X, offered by the Volkswagen-SAIC joint venture, is available in two variants with price tags of 1.998 billion and 2.168 billion VND.
